DEEP THOUGHT #2
It's amazing how I
didn't notice how subtle people are in hating others of a
different nationality, race, religion, etc... I mean, I knew
racism was out there. I just never expected to come face to face
with it like I am now. And it's not blatant. It's subtle, so
subtle you barely notice it's there. Like today, someone referred
to middle-eastern people as towel-heads. Now is that, or is it
not a derogatory term? She told me to get off my high horse, but
if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem
and I'm not going to be part of the problem by being quiet any
longer. Shamefully I've done that one too many times.
People ask why so many people in Europe, the middle-east,
etc...don't like America. Well I believe it's because of
attitudes like the one above are allowed to run rampant when in
other countries it's not. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud to be an
American and everything, but I'm not going to hide my head in the
sand and act like the people of this country don't have their
faults and it's those faults that lead to resentment from other
countries. American or Middle-Eastern, no one is better then
anyone else and hopefully soon the ones that do think they're
superior will realize just how wrong they are before there is
another September 11 or worse, another holocaust.
