THIRTY-THREE

Two days later…

Laura sets out on the docks staring across at Wyndemere, wondering if she should go and talk to Stefan, or just set and stew in her own grief and anger of once again losing her son. She buries her head in her hands but springs to attention when she hears the all too familiar cold voice behind her.

"Really Laura. I would think that public displays of emotion was well beyound you now. But who can blame you after losing your son like you have."

Laura gets to her feet and turns to angrily glare at Helena. "What do you want?"

"To give my condolences of course. Word has it that Lucky took a head first dive off these docks right here. So sad…such a waste of youth."

"This is your fault Helena!"

Helena touches her chest, her eyes widen in shock. "Mine? How is poor Lucky killing himself my fault?"

"If it wasn’t for you kidnapping him and bringing that Faison into his life, suicide would never have entered Lucky’s mind! Instead he would be in New York right now living a happy life with Elizabeth!"

Helena laughed. "You really believe that don’t you? That it’s that easy to escape the spencer/cassadine war. Really Laura, what happened to Lucky should prove to you that it’s impossible. Your son tried to escape and look what happened…it destroyed him and the same will happen to you if you don’t open your eyes and accept things as they really are."

"You and your henchman destroyed my son and I will not set by and watch you destroy my other son or any other member of my family!"

Helena laughed and shakes her head. "You’re an even bigger fool than I thought you were Lasha if you think you can hurt me."
"Get away from her mother or I will be the one to hurt you!" Stefan appears behind Helena, his arms crossed.

"Stefan, what a pleasant surprise," Helena forces a smile. "And what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Step away from Laura or I’ll kill you," Stefan aims the gun he carries with him just in case an emergency occurs. "Trust me mother, I will not warn you again."
Helena only smiles and steps away from Laura. "Such tactics Stefan…really."

"Laura has just lost her son. There’s no need for you to come around and gloat. Now leave her!"

"We’ll talk again you two," Helena turns and disappears into the darkness.

"Are you okay?" Stefan goes to Laura and places a steady hand on her shoulder.

"Am ok? I’m losing my children left and right and you want to know if I’m okay?" Laura begins to sob.

"You still have Nikolas and Lulu. They’re still here Lasha and they need you to be strong in this time of crisis."

Laura laughs. "They’re better off depending on you and Luke. I’m not up to being the comforting mother anymore. Lucky is gone for good and there’s nothing I can do about it."

Stefan’s heart goes out to his lover and pulls her into a comforting hug. "I promise you Lasha, I will avenge your son. I’m going to hunt that man down and terminate him. Cesar Faison better enjoy himself now because his day are numbered."

Somewhere in Canada

Robert and Anna enter the small diner, looking in both directions before fully entering. Robert dunks back out and motions for their two young companions to follow.

"Now remember, your names are Beth and Luke. You’re the kids of our American friends," Anna reminded Lucky and Elizabeth.

"Lucky knows the drill from the days with Luke, but Elizabeth, no talking about port charles are anyone in it. If asked about your past, give vague answers," Robert cautioned. "Now this is the diner we own and our last names are the Charlestons and yours is Logan and Walden. Luke Walden, Beth Logan…got it?"

Both teens nod.

"This place reminds me of the triple L. The diner mom and dad owned in Nova Scotia before we went to Port Charles," Lucky looks around the place.

"We’d thought you may like it because of that," Robert grinned, glad that he could give Lucky some familiar territory.

"I’m kind of tired," Lucky clears his throat. "Do we have a room?"

"Elizabeth’s room is on the right and your room is on the left," Anna nods. "Right up the stairs there."

Lucky just smiles and heads on up leaving Elizabeth alone with the Scorpios.

"He’s depressed about leaving his parents again," Elizabeth sighed, looking up after Lucky.

"I know. And we hated doing this to him…but there was no choice. It was either go into hiding…"

"Or lose Lucky for good," Elizabeth sighed. "I know. I just wished things could be different for him…that he didn’t feel so alone."

"But he’s not alone. He has us, and most importantly he has you. This is a selfless thing you’re doing, giving up everything for him," Anna places a gentle hand on Elizabeth’s shoulder.

"Selfless? Please. This is the most selfish thing I’ve ever done. I lived a year without Lucky and it nearly destroyed me. If I had to do it again….I wouldn’t be able to survive it. Forget about my grandmother and friends…all I care about is losing Lucky. How selfish can I get?"

"Well we beg to differ," Robert smiles.

Elizabeth sighs and glances up at the stairs. "I better go on up after him. See how he’s doing."

"Ok. We’ll call when dinner’s ready," Anna called after Elizabeth as she follows Lucky’s path up the stairs. "This is not going to be easy for either of them. Especially her. She’s never done this before."

"But she’ll get used to it," Robert squeezes his wife’s shoulder. "And hopefully this won’t be for long. Hopefully soon Cesar will be caught and dealt with accordingly."

"I pray that’s true darling. For those kids sake, I hope that’s true.

Elizabeth found Lucky standing by the window, staring out, a single tear tracing it’s way down his cheek. Her heart goes out to him. She knows how painful this was and she wished she could make it easier.

"Oh Lucky don’t cry," She goes to him and wraps her arms around his shoulders and rests her face against his back. "It’ll be okay. In fact, it’s not so bad. We have a place to stay, good people to stay with, and best of all we’re together."

"I miss my parents so much Elizabeth. It seems so unreal to miss them as much as I do," Lucky sighed. "And Nikolas and Lulu…I may never see any of them ever again."

"But we will Lucky. Do you honestly think that your father, knowing that Faison’s the reason you’re gone, is going to let him remain breathing for very long?"

Lucky shakes his head. "There’s no killing him Liz. The man’s invincible. You can cut off his head and burn his body and he’ll still come back."

"Oh Lucky no one’s that powerfull, not even that mad man," Elizabeth strokes his hair gently. "Look at me Lucky."

Lucky stares into her eyes. There he sees the strength that he lacks, the love that he craves. He wraps his arms around Elizabeth and pulls her closer, wanting to soak up her warmth, to drawn in her essence. He loved her so much.

"Please Lizzie," He whispers. "Help me."
"I will. Always," Elizabeth gently kisses his lips. She steps in closer to him and deepens the kiss. Lucky slowly moves them over towards the bed. Liz shivers with excitement as he lowers her onto the bed, his lips never leaving hers.

"Ahem!" Anna clears her throats, both teens blush furiously as they break apart, each missing the nearness of each other’s bodies. "I hate to interrupt a make out session, but I thought you’d like a chance to talk to Luke and Laura. It’s one of the few times you’ll get too."

Lucky is immediately off the bed and downstairs, Elizabeth right behind him.

"Dad!" Lucky greets.

"Hiya Cowboy!" Luke’s hearty voice floats through the reciever. Taking care of yourself and the Cowgirl?"

"Of course," Lucky grinned, glancing at Elizabeth, who’s smiling, happy to see the light back in Lucky’s eyes. "How is everyone? Is mom okay? How about Nikolas and LuLu?"
"They’re fine Lucky. Missing you like crazy, but they’re healthy. Is Robert and Anna treating you right? They’re not giving you too much of a hard time are they?"

"No. Of course not. They’re great…heard anything from Faison or Helena?" Lucky asks, his voice growing somber.

"Faison no. But Helena had a round with your mother a couple of days ago. Stefan ran the old bat off though. Don’t worry cowboy. I’ll Herr Krieg and make him regret tangling with us Spencers. You will come home Lucky. That’s a promise."

Lucky smiled sadly, wishing with his heart that this was a promise his father could keep, but he wasn’t five years old anymore. He knew that his father was not superman and that there were some things his father just couldn’t do. Making sure that Faison was dead and stayed dead was one of those things.

"Time to say good-bye Lucky," Robert regretfully interrupts the conversation. The shorter the better."

Lucky sadly nods. "I love you dad."

"Same here Cowboy. And keep your head up. We’ll be together again soon."

Lucky wipes away a stray tear as he hands the phone back to Robert.

"You okay?" Elizabeth asked worriedly.

"I’ll be okay," Lucky nods, once again hugging her close.

"I’m sorry the call couldn’t be longer Lucky," Robert hangs the phone up. "I was taking a chance calling him so soon, but I knew how much you missed your parents and thought a call with Luke would cheer you up."

"It did. Thank you," Lucky smiled. "It meant a lot. Everything does."
"Well I know Luke would do the same for me if situations were reversed," Robert shrugged. "You kids better get upstairs and get some rest. It’s been a long ride."
Both Lucky and Elizabeth nod and hand in hand they head back upstairs.

"Think that’s wise?" Anna asked

"What?" Robert looks at his wife questioningly.

"Letting two teenagers of the opposite sex go upstairs together…alone," Anna arched her eyebrow. "The last thing we need is a unplanned pregnancy."

Robert doubled over with laughter. "Of all things to worry about love! Of course it’s alright, Lucky’s not as reckless as his father, he does have some of his mother’s brains. Besides, I left protection in both their beaureau drawers…just in case."

"You’re terrible," Anna slaps his shoulder, narrowing her eyes.

"You know what I say. Always be prepared," Robert smiled widely. "Now come, let’s get dinner started, then go up and put some of those precautions to good use."
