CHAPTER NINETEEN
Luke slams the door when he enters to find Robert and Anna setting at his desk, both looked worried.
"You’re still here and I see the little lady’s joined you. So what’s on the agenda today?" Luke takes the chair behind his desk.
"I wanted to give my condolences about Lucky," Anna speaks up.
"Condolences?! Condolences? You talk as if my boy’s dead! He’s not dead! He’s just kidnapped! We’ll find him and bring him home. Then it’ll be Faison who’s dead,’ Luke lights up a cigar.
"Luke, I didn’t mean…" Anna stammers, her cheeks growing red with embarrassment. "I only meant…"
"I know I know. I’m sorry I jumped down your throat like that Anna. It’s just that…I’m worried about my boy. He’s been through so much this past year…I never thought I’d have to go save him again…two months later."
"We’ll find him," Anna nods. "I know all of Faison’s compound and properties. He has to be holding them in one of them."
"I just hope that psychopath keeps his hands off my son and Elizabeth. If anything at all happens to them…"
"Luke nothing will. We’re going to find them," Anna grabs his hand. "We promise."
"I’m holding you to that," Luke snorts, pouring himself another scotch on the rocks, the first one he’s had in two months. "Sonny and Roy will be here in a few. We’ll discuss strategies then."
Nikolas paces the floor, his hands behind his back, his mind on Lucky and Elizabeth. Where were they? Were they safe? Hungry? Were they even together? And who was behind their disappearance? Helena? Of course! Of course it was her! Who else could it have been.
"Helena!!!" Nikolas curses, throwing a nearby vase at the door, barely missing his grandmother’s head as she enters.
"Why Nikolas. Whatever is the matter?" Helena stares down at the shattered vase.
"Where are they?" Nikolas glares at his grandmother, daring her to lie to him.
"My dear boy, what are you talking about? Where is who?" Helena lightly touches her throat, her diamond ring glittering in the light of the overhead lamp.
"Liz and Lucky. You kidnapped them grandmother and I want to know where they are now!"
Helena’s eyes widen in shock, her mouth opens in protest. "Kidnapped? Lucky and that dear Miss. Webber you’re so fond of? Now why would I do that?"
"To get revenge against the Spencers! You’ve done it once! Now you’re doing it again and taking Elizabeth along for the ride! Now where are they grandmother and so help you they better be unharmed!"
Helena’s eyes remain wide in surprise. This was definitely news to her. Lucky had just been rescued two months ago, why would she want to risk death by Luke Spencer’s hands by taking the boy again? Who ever took Lucky was very foolish and was underestimating Luke Spencer’s anger. There was only one person she knew that foolish…her old partner…Cesar Faison. She knew that he had his own agenda for Lucky and obviously he won’t be satisfied until it’s carried out. How can she get out of this hole that Faison had dug for her? How can she escape Nikolas’s wrath and maybe even make him be grateful to her?
"Nikolas, my dear, believe me. I do not have nor have I seen your brother and his girlfriend. But I do know who has him. Cesar Faison."
"What?"
"Nikolas…when I took Lucky, I had help as you know," Helena paces the
floor, avoiding all eye contact. Nikolas may be a lot of things, but gullible
was no longer one of them. She had to be careful of the words she used around
him.
"Cesar Faison."
"That is correct. Mr. Faison was the man who helped me detain Lucky. I of course treated Lucky with the utmost respect, but Faison…he had other purposes still unknown to me for Lucky. I tried my best to protect Lucky Nikolas, you must believe that. Faison knew not to harm Lucky in anyway, especially when I was around."
"And how long was you around grandmother? How long did you leave Lucky alone with that sicko? Because, he obviously did something because Lucky wouldn’t talk about him."
"Really? Oh dear. There’s no telling what Faison could have done. There’s no telling what he’s doing to that poor boy now with me not there to protect him at all," Helena raises a shaky hand to her mouth. She looks at Nikolas, renewed determination in her voice. "I swear to you Nikolas, I’ll find Lucky and bring him home to you. You have my word."
Nikolas suppressed a sarcastic laugh. His grandmother was fooling no one. She could care less whether lucky lived or died. She was just trying to find a way to get back into his good graces, but that wasn’t going to happen. Helena was lower than scum and there was no way he was going to trust her. "Don’t make promises you have no way of keeping grandmother. Besides, Luke won’t let you get within a mile of his son again and neither will I. You’re forgetting, you’re the one who got him in this whole mess in the first place."
"Nikolas…"
"No grandmother. Leave this alone. I’ll find my brother and Elizabeth myself. I don’t need nor do I want your help," Nikolas opens the door and motions for Helena to leave. "Good bye grandmother."
"Nikolas…just hear what I have to say about…"
"Good-bye Grandmother. Oh and if I ever catch you in these parts again, I’ll make sure that you’ll spend the rest of your days in jail for kidnapping. Hey maybe you and Faison can share a cell. Then maybe you’ll know what it feels like to be locked up."
"Very well my darling boy. But do remember that my offer is always open in case you reconsider," Helena pats his cheek before stepping through the door. Helena stands outside the closed door, a cold smile on her face. She was going to find Lucky and the webber girl before Luke and his goons did. Then maybe, just maybe, not only will she have Nikolas’s loyalty, but the ultimate revenge on Luke Spencer…the loyalty of his only son as well. "Soon Nikolas. Soon." Helena steps off the porch and joins her assistant Andri in front of the black limousine. "Andri, call our informant. Have him list all of the properties belonging to Cesar Faison or Herr Krieg. Have him report his findings back to me immediately. And put out a search for Cesar himself and have him followed. The sooner we find Luke’s son…the better."
"Yes madam," Andri bows his head and holds the door open for Helena. Taking one last look at her grandson’s cottage, Helena smiled in satisfaction. Soon all she’s ever wanted will be hers.
