CHAPTER SIXTEEN

It’s been twenty-four hours since Lucky and Elizabeth disappeared and Nikolas is up pacing the floor, knowing that something bad had happened to them. He hated to call Luke Spencer, but there really was no choice.

"Spencer here!" Luke’s gruff voice blasts into his ears.

"Luke this is Nikolas.."

"It’s about time you called! Where’s Lucky?"

"I don’t know. He never came home last night…and neither did Liz. Luke…their bed weren’t even slept in."

"Did Lucky call or anything? Maybe they decided to spend the night a little more private," Luke tries to keep himself calm. Flying off the handle wasn’t going to help the situation. Luke looks up just as Robert enters; he motions for him to set and continues listening to Nikolas.

"But they would have called Luke," Nikolas insists. "I don’t like this. I don’t like this at all."

"Now Nikolas just calm down and stay calm. Let’s give Cowboy a few more hours to check in. If he’s not in by then, then we’ll panic."

"But Luke…anything could have happened to him by then…"

"And anything could have happened by now and nothing will change it, least of all flying off the handle. Now Nikolas, if something has happened, both Lucky and Elizabeth are counting on us to keep a cool head. Okay? Think you can do that?"

Nikolas takes a shaky breath. "For Lucky I can," He sighed.

"Listen Prince, I have a friend here who can help us if Lucky is in trouble. So why don’t I let you go and work on a strategy just in case."

"Ok. Keep me posted," Nikolas hangs up.

"No word from Lucky huh?" Robert guessed.

"Both him and Elizabeth Webber are missing," Luke gets up and paced the room "Damn it! Faison’s got them! I just know it!"

"I’ll get a tail on Faison right now," Robert takes out his cell phone.

"Like that will help. Lucky’s been gone for over twenty-four hours now. Faison could have taken him anywhere."

"Luke…we’ll find them. I promise you. Even if I and Anna have to come out of hiding, we’ll get you Lucky back," Robert squeezes his friend’s shoulder.

"Guess I better go tell Laura…let her know that Cowboy won’t be stopping by for lunch after all," Luke’s voice is flat and emotionless. "Damn it Robert! This is going to kill her! She just got him back Robert. The first time…when we thought he had died in that fire…it destroyed her. Just think what this is going to do."

Robert sat in front of his friend and stared him dead in the eyes. "Listen to me Luke…Laura is a strong woman and she’ll get through this. Plus there’s an advantage…She knows Lucky is still alive. Before she thought he was dead."

"I know Robert, but still…there’s no telling how she’s going to take this."

"Well there’s no better way to do this other than to go over there now and tell her," Luke buries his face in his hands, fighting his own tears.

"I’ll go with you," Robert gets up to go for his coat, but Luke roughly grabs his arm.

"No. This is something I have to do by myself. Seeing you will only distract her and prolong the news."

"If that’s what you want," Robert sighed. "You know how to reach me if you need me right?"
Luke just nods and grabs his keys. "Make sure the lights are out and the door’s tightly locked on the way out."

Robert nods as he watches his friend leave, his eyes filled with worry. Robert prayed that whatever he had planned for Lucky Spencer wouldn’t be too traumatizing. There’s no telling how much more tragedy the Spencer family could take.

Laura and Stefan are just setting down to breakfast when Luke arrives. Neither are aware of the Faison situation. To them everything for once was ok.

"Mr. Spencer is here to see Mrs. Spencer," Mrs. Lansbarry appears in the doorway, her eyes revealing her nervousness at having Laura’s ex-husband show up unexpectantly like this. "Shall I let him in?"

"Of course," Laura answers, standing from her seat, confused. Luke wasn’t supposed to come until later that afternoon to pick up Lulu. "Show him in."

Mrs. Lansbarry just nods and leaves the room. Five seconds later, Luke enters the room, his face is solemn. The last time she saw him like this was last year when Lucky was first taken. That’s when she felt it. The ripping sensation in the pit of her stomach. Something was wrong with Lucky. Something was very wrong.

"What happened? Where’s Lucky? And don’t say he’s fine because he’s not! I can feel it!" Laura demands, certain that Luke was going to lie.

"Laura…Faison…he’s kidnapped both Lucky and Elizabeth. No one knows where he could have taken them," Luke quietly explained. "But I have men on it right now. They won’t stop looking until they find them."

"Oh god no! No! This cannot be happening again! Not to my son! Not with that lunatic! How do you know it was Faison and not Helena?"
"Because Helena loves her grandson too much. I kind of hinted that Nikolas would pay if she even looked in my son’s direction again. Helena wouldn’t do anything again. Besides, she already kidnapped Lucky once before. She doesn’t do things twice."

"But I don’t understand. Why Luke? Why would Faison take Lucky? What good can he be to Faison? He’s just a kid!"
"He’s our kid. That’s reason enough," Luke pulls her into a hug, letting her cry on his shoulder, a shocked Stefan forgotten. "I’m going to find them Angel. I promise, and when I do, I’ll kill that Faison. I promise."

"Nikolas," Stefan finally speaks up. "How’s Nikolas. Lucky meant a lot to him."

"Nikolas is holding his own," Luke nods. "Must say Count, that’s a pretty good kid you raised there."

"Luke…what are we going to do? We have to find them," Laura grabs Luke’s shoulders tightly. "We have to get to Lucky before Faison destroys him."

"Darling we will. I promise you," Luke strokes her hair, his old feelings for her resurfacing, but then he looks at Stefan who’s frowning darkly at them, suspicion and distrust burning in his eyes. Plus there was Felicia…There was no way he’d make good on these feelings for Laura. They had to be pushed back into his past. "Stay here with the Count. I’ll go and conference with Sonny and Roy. We’ll figure out how to find the kids and get them out of there. Then I’m going to rip Faison’s throat out. He’s not getting away with this again."

"Just bring him home Luke. I don’t care how you do it, just bring my baby home," Laura sobs, allowing Luke to pull her in his arms, ignoring Stefan’s glare. At that moment, deep in his heart, Luke promised to find his son and make Faison pay dearly for what he’s done.
