Chapter Three

Nikolas paces the dock when Elizabeth arrives. She rubs her shoulders against the cold air and sighs when she notices Nikolas.

"Ok. I’m here," She replies. "Listen, I’ve been thinking…Nikolas I can’t believe you on this."

"Liz…"

"No. I was there. I saw his token…he would never have taken that off for anything."

"Well obviously someone took it off for him. He’s alive Elizabeth. I saw him with my own eyes!"

"I don’t know who it was you saw, if you saw anyone. But it wasn’t Lucky, and I resent you using him like this."

"Using…I’m not using Lucky! I’d never use him!"

"Yeah right!"

"Elizabeth listen…" Nikolas stops in mid-sentence when he spots his grandmother approaching, too busy staring down at her cellphone to see the teens. "Liz quick! Behind these crates!" Nikolas pulls her behind the same crates that him and Lucky had once hid behind when they were helping Emily. "Keep quiet," he hissed.

Helena walks in front of the crates, Nikolas and Elizabeth unnoticed.

"Faison. How is our young prisoner doing? Has he tried to escape again?" Helena crossed a arm in front of her waist. "What?! What do you mean he’s escaped! Didn’t I tell you not to underestimate Lucky? I hold you totally responsible. I warned you not to spoil that boy! Well you better find young Mr. Spencer before he gets too far! The first place he’d be heading would be here I suppose, back to his precious girlfriend. I’m going to head him off at the pass. But just in case start looking and get some men on his tail too. We can’t take a chance of Lucky reaching his father. He can not escape! I’ve worked too long and hard for this to happen! You better Faison or I will have your head!" Helena slams shut her phone and heads off for her yacht.

Once Helena is totally gone, Nikolas and Elizabeth reemerge from behind the crates.

"Oh my God," Elizabeth gasped.

"Now do you believe me?" Nikolas rubs his hands together, staring off in the direction that Helena disappeared in.

"He is alive. You were telling the truth. I’m sorry Nikolas."

"Hey I don’t blame you. I have been acting pretty strange lately. If it was me, I wouldn’t have believed either."

"But he’s escaped! Did you hear her! He escaped!"

"Yes he has, but Helena’s hot on his trail, plus if he even tries to come back here, she’ll be waiting."

"So he won’t come back here will he? I’ll never see him again," tears raise up in her eyes. "Wait. We’ll tell Luke. He’ll help!"

"Liz no. We can’t. Luke is a loose cannon. He’ll let Helena know that we’re on to her. And we can’t afford to let that happen. If she does end up capturing Lucky again, she’ll kill him for real if she knows we’re on to her. So for Lucky’s own safety, we keep quiet."

"But…Lucky…he’s going to need help Nikolas. He’s out there on his own…with that faison guy after him…we can’t just leave him out there all alone…"

"I know. That’s why I’m going to take my jet, fly to greece and tail Lucky from there. I’ll bring him home Liz. Helena will be none the wiser. I’m leaving tonight. Just go home and get some rest," Nikolas directs, taking out his cell phone.

"Nikolas no wait! I’m not letting you do this all by yourself. It’s too dangerous. I’m going with you."

"Elizabeth no! I can’t put you in danger like that. Lucky would never forgive himself if anything happened to you."

"This isn’t up to you and Lucky. Lucky was taken from me, and I’m going to go with you to get him back. I’m not taking no for an answer Nikolas. You don’t have a choice here."

"But…"

"Nikolas don’t argue with me. I’m going. That’s the end of it."

Nikolas sighs in defeat. "Ok. Fine. Go home and pack your stuff. I’ll meet you at Kellys in one hour. We head for my private jet immediately after that. Do you have a passport ready?"

"Yes. My parents had one made up for me when they left for Europe."

Nikolas nods. "Hey. Don’t worry. We’re going to find him. One way or another. Ok?"

Elizabeth smiles and nods. "Thank you Nikolas. For telling me."

"Anytime Liz. Now go. Get ready, we’re running out of time."

Elizabeth nods and goes running off to her apartment above Kelly’s. Nikolas watches her disappear into the darkness and closes his eyes. "Please God…keep Lucky safe til we find him. Liz can’t take losing him again."

Liz has just got done with her packing when there’s a knock at her door.

"Coming," She races to the door and smiles when she sees Jason. "Jason hi. I’m glad you’re here."

"You are?" Jason asked as Elizabeth pulls him inside.

"Yes. I can tell you good-bye now."

"Good-bye…where you going?"

"…I have to go on a trip. A friend of mine needs me and I have to go help them. I’ll be coming back…I just don’t know when," Elizabeth wrings her hands.

"Elizabeth…what’s really going on here?" Jason asked.

"Nothing. Like I said, my friend is in trouble I need to go help them."

"What kind of trouble?"

"Liz!" Nikolas’s voice floats up to her. "Liz are you ready?! The jet is waiting!"

"Nikolas is going too?" Jason asks.

"Yes. It’s a mutual friend. They need both of us," Liz nods.

"But I thought you and Nikolas weren’t friends anymore."

"We’re still friends, just not all that close anymore. But our friend, needs both of us so we’re putting all that a side and joining forces sort of speak."

"Liz what’s taking you so…" Nikolas stops in his tracks when he sees Jason. "Jason. What are you doing here?"

"Just came to see if Liz wanted a motorcycle ride, but since she’s leaving I guess that’s out. Look, I have to go, but call me if you need me. For anything at all. Ok?" Jason turns to Elizabeth. "I’ll help out with anything you need. No questions asked."

"We won’t be needing anything from you," Nikolas crossed his arms.

"I’ll do that. Thank you Jason," Elizabeth ignores Nikolas.

"Take care. And I hope everything works out with your friend. Drop me a line when you get back ok?"

Elizabeth waves as Jason leaves.

"Ok. What did you tell him," Nikolas crosses his arms.

"That we have a mutual friend in trouble. No mention of Lucky at all ok? Now are you just going to stand here and play jealous boyfriend or are you going to come on so we can get out of here to search for my real boyfriend, your brother?"

"Come on," Nikolas stands aside for Liz to pass.
