CHAPTER SIX
The gang have been on the road for two days straight and so far
there’s been nothing but arguing between Zander and Nikolas. Lucky was at the
end of his rope with those two, which wasn’t a good thing since he was driving.
Glancing over at Elizabeth, he could tell she was worried about the tension.
How can the six of them live together if they couldn’t get along?
"Well that’s all good from a kidnapper!" Nikolas
snapped.
"You’re one to talk! You come from a family of kidnappers
from what I hear!" Zander shot back.
"You two stop, please," Emily pleaded.
"Yeah. Cut it out. We need to find somewhere permanent to go.
We don’t need your arguing," Lucky glared at his brother and best friend’s
boyfriend. "Goodness knows we can’t stay in motels for the next five or so
years."
"We can always go to Colorado," Elizabeth suggested.
"Or Brooklyn," Gia pipped up.
"How about Arizona!" Emily smiled.
"How about neither of those places?" Zander asked.
"How about Canada? Lucky you’ve lived there before, but you
were too young for anyone to remember you," Nikolas suggested.
"You forgot my little trek home didn’t you?" Lucky
glanced at his brother. "I told that waitress my name."
"Yeah, she’d recognize you in a minute. I think she had a
crush on you. Pretty cute, I think he liked me," Elizabeth rolled her
eyes.
"Why Elizabeth, are you jealous," Lucky can’t help but
tease her.
"What? Why would I be jealous of a girl that you only spoke
to once?"
"Come on Elizabeth, you were so worried that Lucky had
decided to break up with you for her…," Nikolas laughed.
"Shut up," Elizbeth glared at her friend.
"Elizabeth, you of all people have no need to be jealous.
Lucky has eyes only for you," Emily squeezed her friend’s shoulder.
"He probably didn’t give that girl a second thought."
"No. Only ten," Lucky laughed at the shocked and angry
glare he got from Liz. "Just kidding! I couldn’t resist. Don’t worry
sweetie. You’re the only girl on my mind. Katie doesn’t come close."
"Katie? You remember her name?" Elizabeth narrowed her eyes.
"Gee it looks as if you’re in trouble now Lucky," Zander
laughed.
"I have a good memory alright?" Lucky quickly cleared
his throat. "It doesn’t mean that I’m in love with her or anything."
"Elizabeth calm down. I’ve only seen Lucky look at one girl
the way he looks at you. And that’s you. So calm down," Gia speaks up.
"That’s easy for you to say. My sister hasn’t threatened to
come into town to visit or anything," Elizabeth crossed her arms.
"Sister?"
"Nikolas used to date Sarah way back when we were
enemies," Lucky explained. "I think Sarah was more serious about the
relationship than he was though."
"Yeah and Lucky couldn’t wait to get her away from me,"
Nikolas laughed.
"Don’t remind me," Lucky rolled his eyes. "I don’t
know what I ever saw in her. She was so whiney when I took her to that dance.
Nikolas this, Nikolas that. Nikolas would do that. Nikolas wouldn’t do
this…"
"Hey that’s my sister you’re talking about," Elizabeth
playfully slapped Lucky’s shoulder. "It’s not her fault Nikolas used his
Cassadine charm and the affects never wore off."
"Are you saying that Sarah still likes Nikolas?" Gia
asked.
Elizabeth shrugged. "Hard to say. She barely even glanced his
way at Gram’s funeral. I guess not. In fact, she barely even said two words to
me."
"I guess she’s still sore that I told her I wasn’t
interested," Lucky shrugged. "She did try to come on to me you
know."
"Yeah. She couldn’t have me, so she went after my brother."
"But I told her where I stood," Lucky grinned looking at
Elizabeth. "By that time she was old news and I had it bad for her
sister."
"And it was about time," Elizabeth laughed. "All
those stunts I pulled just to get your attention…I was starting to
wonder."
"How did you two meet anyway?" Zander asked.
"Outside Kelly’s. Elizabeth was like a little Gia. She was
pissed at my Aunt Ruby because she wouldn’t sell her a beer."
"Remember how I found out your name?" Elizabeth laughed,
not believing she was ever that forward.
"She asked me my name. I said Lucky."
"And I said we’ll see," Elizabeth laughed.
"Oh my God. And this is little miss goody-two shoes Liz
Webber?" Gia asked.
"I could have fell over when she said that. Not to mention
she was flirting constantly and all the while insulting my family."
"I said I was sorry," Elizabeth smiled. "I was
hopelessly in love with Lucky but at the time he was hopelessly in love with my
goody-two shoes sister. You think I’m bad, you should have met Saint
Sarah."
"Elizabeth has a major inferiority complex," Lucky said.
"I do not!"
"Yes you do. You hated Sarah with a vengeance. You even went as far as
planting test answers in her bag. If it wasn’t for Nikolas, she would have been
suspended and you would have been ecstatic at the downfall of your
sister."
"Well Elizabeth…I have a whole new found respect for
you," Gia shook her head bewildered. The girl Lucky had just described was
nothing like the girl she knows now. "So how did you two finally find your
way to one another?"
The car was silent. Only three people knew what happened to
Elizabeth and weren’t willing to divulge that information with out Elizabeth’s
permission. It’s Elizabeth who answers.
"Lucky and I helped each other through a couple of personal
tragedies. Lucky ran away from home and I wanted to disappear. But Lucky
wouldn’t let me. When I wanted to do nothing but curl up and die, he picked me
up and forced me to live life again. He made sure I never was alone and that I
never had anything to be scared of. Eventually we went from best friends, to
falling in love. It took us completely off guard."
"I remember how protective Lucky was of you. He wouldn’t let
anyone near you without threatening to pummel them if they stepped out of
line," Nikolas nodded.
"Kind of like how Zander is with me," Emily smiled,
squeezing her boyfriend’s hand.
"Listen guys, we need to figure out where we’re going to go.
Throw some ideas at me," Lucky changed the subject. He didn’t want
Elizabeth to begin remembering the rape. Not with all the other stuff going on
.
"We did throw ideas at you Lucky, but you rejected them
all," Gia crossed her arms. "How about New York?"
"Too obvious. Lucky and I were planning to move there at one
time. Helena knows that. That’d be the first place she’d look," Elizabeth
rejected the idea.
"Hey, I know. Texas. Dallas is a big city. We can get lost
there," Lucky grinned. "Plus my dad still owns the old house. It’s
big enough for the six of us. It’s out of the way. It’s perfect."
"But didn’t you and Helena go to Texas before you came back
to Port Charles?" Nikolas asked.
"We never went to the house. She’d never expect us to go
there."
"And Sorel would never expect us to run to Texas," Emily
nodded.
"Fine. I don’t mind going to long horn country," Gia shrugged.
"Nikolas?"
"As long as Gia’s safe there, I’m in," Nikolas nodded in
agreement.
"Ok. Decisions set. First stop, Texas," Lucky grinned,
happy to returning to a place he somewhat remembered as being happy. It will
take a couple of days to get to Texas, but it was going to be worth it in the
end. Soon they will have a whole new life and Helena Cassadine will be a
distant threat.
*
Helena was once again pacing the deck of her yacht, outright
infuriated. Her grandson and his brother had gone missing, taking their pretty
girlfriends with them. So far there has been no trace of them and the Spencers,
didn’t seem at all worried. She knew they had something to do with this and
they were going to pay dearly.
"Any word yet Andri?" Helena asked as the manservant
walked out of her office.
"No madame. There has been no sign of Master Nikolas and his
friends. It is like they’ve disappeared off the face of the Earth."
"And we all know that’s impossible. It’s imperative that I
get them back here in Port Charles Andri. My plans against the Spencers relay
upon their son being in Port Charles. Not half way around the world. Plus, the
only way I can keep control of the situation with Nikolas is if he’s is the
same vacinity as me."
"Shall I put a man on their trail madame?"
"What trail Andri? They didn’t leave one. Luke made sure that
there was no clue left to their where abouts. Where could they have gone?"
"Master Spencer had once planned to go to New York with Miss.
Webber. Could they have gone there?"
"No Andri. Lucky is smart and cunning like his father. He’d know that’d be
the first place I look. Andri, call my man. Tell him I have a job for him. I’m
going to find Nikolas and Lucky and when I do, then I’ll take care of the girls
and my plans can go forward. Nothing is going to stand in my way of me getting
my revenge against Luke Spencer and taking over the Cassadine fortune.
Nothing," Helena crossed her arms angrily.
