CHAPTER SEVEN

Two weeks later…

It was time for another visit to his son, but this time Luke was going alone. He had a strange feeling that Laura was being followed and he had caught a man wearing dark clothes trying to tail him, but Luke had caught him and had Sonny take care of him. Helena was obviously on the prowl and she was getting desperate. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to goad her like he had two weeks ago. Making sure that no one was following him, Luke jumped in his car and headed for the estate that held his son. Lucky was going to have to know what was going on.

When Luke arrived he found Nikolas teaching Elizabeth how to play chess and Lucky setting on the steps reading a book.

"Lord of the Flies. Creative reading cowboy?" Luke arched a eyebrow.

Lucky’s eyes widened with instant happiness at seeing his father. It’s been two whole weeks and he missed his parents terribly. "Lulu and mom not with you?"

"Not this time Cowboy. Listen, we have to talk. There’s been some developments that you need to know about. Have Nikky and Liz meet us in the dining room. This is serious business."

Lucky frowned, the sparkle in his eyes seemed to dim. "Mom and Lulu are ok aren’t they?"

"Oh of course. You know I wouldn’t let anything happen to them."

"Audrey?"

"She’s fine. A little depressed, but fine."

"Dad, about Audrey…Elizabeth’s really missing her. Is there any way…"

"We’ll talk about that inside Lucky. Let’s just get the Prince and Cowgirl inside so we can talk," Luke disappeared into the house, leaving Lucky to gather his friends.

"Ok dad. What is this about?" Lucky asked, taking a seat at the table.

"Helena’s on the prowl. We’re going to have to be careful. You won’t be hearing from us for a while."

"What has she done?" Nikolas asked.

"I caught one of her men following me. I had Sonny take care of him of course. She also has people on your mother and probably on Audrey. I don’t know about that. But I just wanted to let you know so you wouldn’t think we deserted you or anything."

"When will we be able to go home?" Elizabeth asked.

"I don’t know darling, but believe me, you’ll be the first to know."

"Tell mom that we’re thinking about her ok?" Nikolas said, not being able to believe how far Helena was going to get what she wants.

"Don’t worry Nikky. I intend to," Luke got up. "Well I better fly on out of here. Keep your chin up. All three of you. We’ll get Helena."

"Bye dad," Lucky hugged Luke tightly, knowing that he won’t be seeing him for a while.

"Good-bye Cowboy," Luke fought the tears rising up in his eyes. "I will be seeing you again. Never doubt that."

"I won’t."

"Elizabeth," Luke squeezed her hand. "Everything is going to be fine. Just keep the faith."

"I’m trying my best," Elizabeth forced a smile. As soon as Luke was gone, Elizabeth burst into tears and ran up to her room. They were never going to be free of Helena. Never! She might as well forget about seeing her family ever again!

"Will she be alright?" Nikolas asked.

"I don’t’ know Nikolas. I don’t know," Lucky sighed, going upstairs to check on her.

That night at dinner, the table was silent. Lucky and Elizabeth was sullen and Nikolas was once again feeling guilty. After all, it was his Grandmother who was doing this to them. There must be something he could do to make things better. Especially for Elizabeth.

"Liz…what do you want? What would make you happy?" Nikolas finally asked. He was sure that what she wanted he could give.

"To talk to my grandmother," Elizabeth sighed. "of course that can’t happen."

"Who says it can’t? I still have my cell if you want to use it," Nikolas took the phone out of his pocket.

"Is that safe?" Elizabeth’s eyes widened, a tinge of hope seeping into her mood.

"It should be. These things are supposed to be confidential," Nikolas looked at the phone and back at Liz. "So do you want to call her?"

Elizabeth looked to Lucky for permission. It was his safety as well and she didn’t want to do anything he thought would be dangerous.

Lucky knew it could be dangerous. He knew what the repercussions could be. But he couldn’t say no to Elizabeth. She had given up so much. Talking to Audrey for a second couldn’t hurt. "Go ahead sweetie."

Taking a deep breath and whispering a thank-you Elizabeth excepted Nikolas’s offer. After three rings, Audrey answered.

"Hello."

For a reason unknown to Elizabeth, she had lost her voice. She couldn’t speak, but hearing Gram’s voice was pure heaven.

"Hello? Who is this? Elizabeth? Is this you? Your parents called and said you weren’t with them. There were never any plans for you to stay with them. What’s going on? Where are you? Are you with Lucky?"

Elizabeth quickly hung up, having enough. Audrey had sounded so worried and Elizabeth regretted that they weren’t able to put Audrey’s worries to rest. "Thank you Nikolas," She handed back the cell phone.

"No problem. I’m happy to have been of some help," Nikolas smiled.

Meanwhile, back in Port Charles Helena Cassadine received a phone call of her own. "Mrs. Hardy got a phone call from a cell phone that was issued to my Nikolas? Will were you able to lock down on a location? Splendid! Get my best men and we’ll head out now. And I’ll be needing a stun gun. Tell Faison to get two rooms ready. Mr. Spencer will have company this time about. I might as will kill two birds with one stone as the Americans would put it."
