CHAPTER EIGHT
Lucky
and Elizabeth sat together on the couch, absorbed in a book they had both began
reading while Nikolas practiced on some of his martial arts moves. None of them
were aware of the intruders stalking around the island, taking out as many of
Sonny’s men as possible. As far as they were concerned, they were perfectly
safe in their own private paradise. Even Elizabeth had lifted out of her
depression. None of them even gave Helena a second thought.
One
hour later Helena stood outside the door with five of her best men. It was time
to collect.
"Remember,
I just want the two boys. As for Miss. Webber…stunn her but leave her here.
She’ll be the one to tell Luke I’ve gotten what I want afterall. Orpheus…did
you tell Faison to be ready for our visitors?"
"Yes
Madame," the tall bald man nodded.
"Good.
Now let us get started, shall we?" Helena stood back as one of her men
kicked the door in.
Nikolas
was the first to get to his feet at the disruption. His eyes widened with
disbelief as his grandmother and her boytoys filled the room.
"Helena,"
was all he could say. "Get out."
"Now
is that the proper way to treat your grandmother Nikolas? Really, you were
raised with better manners. Now, we can do this the easy way or the hard way.
You and your brother are coming with me regardless."
"I
don’t think so," Nikolas stood between Lucky, Elizabeth and Helena.
"How
did you find us anyway?" Lucky asked, wishing there was a way to get in
touch with his father. "And how did you get past Sonny’s men?"
"There’s
no need to worry about them anymore. I took care of everything. And as for how
I found you, a call to Audrey Harding was traced back to here."
Elizabeth
gasped with horror. It was all her fault. She just had to make that call didn’t
she? Now they all were in over their heads thanks to her.
"Now
who do I have to thank for such good luck?"
"You…You
witch," Nikolas glared at his grandmother. You stay away from my brother!
By order of the prince!"
This
only brought laughter from not only Helena but her men as well. "Oh
Nikolas, my sweet. You can be quite amusing sometimes. You don’t have that kind
of control over me until you come of age. In the mean time, you are still a
minor. Now let’s stop this silly fighting and do things the nice way. You and
Lucky are coming with me. As a show of my gratitude, Miss. Webber will remain
here."
"We
are going nowhere with you!" Lucky angrily walked up to stand next to his
brother. "You’re wasting your time here."
Helena
only smiled and nodded to her men that had sauntered up behind Elizabeth.
Grabbing the girl he shot something into the back of her neck.
Lucky
turned around at Elizabeth’s gasp of pain to see his girlfriend collapsed onto
the floor. "Elizabeth!" He knelt down next to her. Her eyes were open
but she wasn’t moving. "What did you do to her?"
"Oh
not to worry young Spencer. Elizabeth will be just fine. Orpheus had just
stunned her. She can see and hear everything, but she can’t move. It will wear
off after twenty-four hours. But believe me, if you and my Grandson don’t
cooperate, I can give her something much more…shall I say permanent?"
"You
witch!" Nikolas snarled. "I’m not going to stand by and let you get
away with this!"
"You
have no choice my dear boy. You and your brother will come with me. Or Miss.
Webber here pays the consequences."
"…We
have no choice Nikolas…we’re going to have to cooperate. We can’t let her hurt
Elizabeth more than she already has."
"Listen
to your brother kid," Orpheus crossed his arms.
"Ok.
Fine…but at least let us put her on the couch where she’s more
comfortable," Nikolas relented, his shoulders slumped in defeat.
"That’ll
be fine. Orpheus."
"No!"
Lucky snarled. "Let me do it!" he lifted Elizabeth off the floor and
laid her on the couch where she stared up at him pleadingly. "Shhh, don’t
worry. Everything’s going to be ok. I promise. My father will find us. I love
you," He bent down and kissed her partly opened lips and wiped away the
tears that were coming from her eyes.
"That’s
enough! It’s time we’re to be on our way," Helena lifted her chin.
"Orpheus, stay here with Mrs. Webber until my call. I want to make sure
that Nikolas and Lucky behave in route."
"Yes
Madame," Orpheus nodded.
"Come
Lucky," Helena commanded.
Looking
one more time in Elizabeth’s eyes, Lucky got up and joined his brother.
Glancing one more time at the living room he followed Nikolas outside where
Helena’s car was waiting.
"Remember.
Any funny business and Miss. Webber dies," Helena warned once again before
ushering the boys into the long black car and driving off into the distance.
