The mansion was dark and quiet as Luke, Laura, and Elizabeth
sneaked in. Their goal was to find the
boys and get out. Luke wanted as little
trouble as possible. Especially with
Elizabeth with them. The girl was there
against Luke’s better judgement. If it
wasn’t for her threat to go looking for Lucky on her own, she’d be safely back
in Port Charles.
“Luke! They’re here,”
Laura whispered. “I can feel them.”
“Just keep those feelings open sweetheart. We’re going to need them to get the boys out of here,” Luke squeezed
her hand.
“I hate the dark,” Elizabeth stayed close to Laura, halfway
wishing that she had listened and stayed in Port Charles after all.
“It’s ok Cowgirl. Just
stay close and you’ll be alright,” Luke whispered.
So quietly they moved down the dark hall, not even breathing
loud. Luke turned the corner and bumps
into something. Switching on the
flashlight he was trying to avoid using, he came face to face with Nikolas.
“Nikolas!” Laura pushed pass Luke
to get to her son. She drew him
into the safety of her arms. “Are you
ok? Did she hurt you?”
“Where’s Lucky?” Elizabeth asked, knowing that he must be
somewhere nearby.
Nikolas pulled away from Laura and looked at Luke, his dark eyes
even darker with fear and desperation.
“I escaped and was heading to get Lucky. We have to get him out of here Luke!”
“What’s mama bat up to?
What is she doing to my boy?” Luke growled, gripping the gun that was
hidden in his jacket.
“She’s brainwashing him to kill you, Laura, and Lulu. I tried to stop her, but she locked me up in
a separate room so I couldn’t even talk
to him.”
“Can you take us to him Nikolas?
Do you know what room she’s keeping him in?” Laura asked, her own fear
rising in her throat. Her poor son,
forced to be that old hags pawn for evil…she was going to make sure that Helena
payed for this.
ikolas nodded. “But I must
warn you…he hates Luke again. Getting
him to leave with us may be harder then we think.”
“Well it’s a good thing I came along after all huh?” Elizabeth
nodded. “He’d always listened to me if
no one else.”
“She has a point there,” Luke nodded in
agreement.
“Come on. Before Grandmother realizes something’s up,” Nikolas continued
down the hall, hoping that the others were following him.
He found the door he was led to
before and sent his fist into the
guards face, knocking the older man unconscious. Pushing the door open, they found Lucky tied to a metal chair,
listening to Faison fill his head with more lies and instructions.
“What the hell!” Luke pushed pass Nikolas.
“Get away from my son!”
“Ah, Mr. Spencer…” Faison got to his
feet.
“Herr Krieg,” Luke growled.
“No, Cesar Faison. I’ve met your son Lucky. What a charming young man. Nothing at all like his father.”
“I said get away from him,” Luke withdrew the gun from his
jacket. “You’ve got to the count of
three.”
“I’d do as he says,” Nikolas nodded.
“One,” Luke began.
“Really Spencer…”
“Two.”
“All things considered, all of this is
really…”
“Three.”
“Unnecessary.”
BANG!
The gun was loud and had a powerful
kick. It also did it job well,
for Faison had fallen into a dead heap at Lucky’s feet.
“So this is the great Luke Spencer,”
Portia stood in the doorway, glaring coldly at the group of rescuers. She had arrived just in time to see Faison
fall. “Grandmother was right. You kill without hesitation.”
“Who are you?” Elizabeth frowned as
herself and Laura untied Lucky from the chair.
“Portia Cassadine. Daughter of Faith Cassadine, who was raped
by my father…Luke Spencer.”
Luke blinked in shock. “What did you just say?”
“Surprised are you? Thought your crime 25 years ago was
consequence free did you? Well think
again. Your victim had your daughter
before killing herself. A daughter that
hates you more then she’s ever hated anyone!”
“And she’s not the only one,” Lucky got
to his feet. “I thought mom was
the only one. How could you do it
dad? Do you feel any remorse at all?”
Luke groaned. He had just gotten his son back.
Now it looked like they were back to square one.
“You’re just as bad as Tom Baker,” Lucky
glared at his father with intense hatred.
“Lucky no,” Elizabeth gasped.
“Oh look,” Helena entered, carrying a
velvet pouch. “A party and I wasn’t
invited.”
“You!” Luke turned on Helena. “You did this!”
“Revenge for taking my Faith away from
me. I’m taking your Lucky away from
you,” Helena smiled with sick glee. She
reached into the sack and pulled out the large diamond known as the ice
princess. “Lucky. It’s time to protect Elizabeth at all
costs. Kill Luke Spencer.”
Using one of Luke’s old techniques,
Lucky disarmed his father and shakeingly aimed at Luke’s chest.
“Lucky no!” Nikolas shook his head,
wishing that this was a nightmare, but knowing for a fact that it wasn’t. Lucky was standing there, under Helena’s control, ready to kill his
father. There had to be a way to stop
him. Lucky wouldn’t be able to live
with himself if he followed through on Helena’s orders.
“I have to protect Elizabeth,” Lucky’s
voice was flat and lifeless.
“No Lucky. I’m fine,” Elizabeth pleaded.
“Luke would never hurt me.”
“Listen to her Cowboy,” Luke held his
hands up, hopeing that they could get through the brainwashing somehow. “I would never hurt Elizabeth. I’d die first.”
“Liar!” Lucky’s hold on the gun
tightened. He’s about to pull the
trigger when something happened.
“Stop!” Stefan and a woman with blond
hair and green eyes raced into the room.
Luke’s eyes widened in recognition.
“Faith?” Luke asked, for the moment forgetting
that Lucky was aiming a gun at his heart.
“You’re alive.”
“No thanks to my mother,” Faith glared
angrily at Helena.
“What have you done? Turn your sister against me, just like you
did Nikolas?” Helena turned on Stefan, her
shock at Faith’s arrival evident.
“No mother. You’ve done that all on your own,” Stefan shook his head.
“Mother stop! Why are you so angry with Grandmother? She has done nothing but protect me from the man who raped you,”
Portia took her grandmother’s hand in hers, holding tight to the only person
that had been around for her, all her entire life.
“What are you talking about? You father?
Why Luke did no such thing.
Everything between us was consentual.
Portia honey, you were conceived in love,” Faith shook her head, clear
pity in her eyes.
“Just like Lucky and Lulu were,” Luke
nodded his agreement.
“But Grandmother said…”
“Your Grandmother hated Luke with a
vengeance. To her, he was a dirty
peasant, dirtying up the pure Cassadine
gene pool. She wanted him out of my
life so badly that she kidnapped me on the eve of our wedding.”
“Leaving nothing but a letter saying
that Helena was right. We were too
different. I tried finding Faith, but
she had disappeared off the face of the
earth,” Luke explained. “She was my first love.”
“I helped her escape Helena, but sadly,
we couldn’t take Portia. Helena kept
the baby under strict surveillance.
Faith was heartbroken, but there was no other choice. Mikkos was demanding Faith’s death.
Her crime was loving a peasant and bearing his child. So I
took Faith and had her leave Cassadine Island with a friend that was
visiting. I kept her updated on
Portia’s…”
“And I was very livid with you for
refusing to interfere with Helena telling my daughter lies about her father,”
Faith glared at her brother, who met her gaze head on.
“May I remind you that I never had kind
thoughts of Luke Spencer myself,” Stefan crossed his arms.
“So you’re saying that he never raped
you?” Portia stared at her mother, confusion setting in. If what her mother and Uncle were saying was
true, that meant…everything ever told to her about Luke Spencer was a lie. She wasn’t a child of rape after all.
“You were conceived in nothing but love
my beautiful daughter. Just Like your
brother and sister were.”
“You lied to me,” Portia whirled on
Helena. “You outright lied to me!”
“And the lies end now!” Luke snatched
the ice princess away from Helena and smashes it to the ground, grinding the broken pieces to dust. “Your control over both my son and daughter
ends now!”
“No!
Not my diamond!” Helena fell to the floor, trying to gather up what was
left of the legendary diamond.
“Give it up Grandmother,” Nikolas glared
down at the frantic woman. “It’s over.”
“Dad?” Lucky blinks, lowering the
gun. Helena’s spill was broken.
“Lucky!” Elizabeth ran to her boyfriend,
holding him tightly.
“No!” Helena screamed in outrage. All her plans were dashed to dust. There wasn’t going to be a grand revenge
against Luke Spencer after all. And it
was all Faith’s fault. The girl just
couldn’t remain dead. She had to come
back and ruin everything.
Getting to her feet, Helena glared
hatefully at her daughter. There was
only one thing to do. Something which
should have been done a long time ago by her own hands.
“Traitor!” Helena screamed as she raced
towards her daughter, hands outstretched, hooked into claws. Murder twisted in her face so much, no one
could recognize her. Her intent was to
kill. Plain and simple.
BANG!
The room filled with the smell of gunsmoke and blood. Everyone looked around as Helena fell into a
puddle of blood. Everyone looked around
as Helena layed convulsing on the cold floor.
She stared up at her granddaughter, who held the gun tightly in her
hands, tears spilling from her eyes.
As the convulsions lessened, Helena
managed to groan as her life left her.
“Portia…why?…” The question died on Helena’s lips as her life at last
came to an end.
“Because you’re not who I thought you were,”
Portia’s answer fell on dead ears.
“Portia!” Faith ran to her daughter,
taking the girl into the safety of her arms.
“Mama,” The girl cried, cling to her
mother for dear life.
“Lucky!” Laura embraced her son, who was
still shaken by what he had almost done.
He looked at Luke, unshed tears shining
in his eyes. “I’m sorry dad. I’m so sorry.”
“Shhh son. I understand. That wasn’t
you. It was all Helena,” Luke squeezed
his son’s shoulder in reassurance. He
glanced over at Faith and Portia, suddenly curious about his new found
daughter. Patting Lucky’s back, he
approached the new women in his life.
“So you’re my daughter.” He stood behind the younger woman.
“Unfortunately,” Portia snorted, turning
around to face the man she had hated all her life. She hoped that he didn’t expect her to call him father. Her upbringing would never allow her to do
such a thing.
“Well welcome to the family all the
same,” Luke shrugged.
“Luke!
We need you!” Laura waved him over, where she was standing with Lucky
and Liz.
“You’re being summoned,” Portia crossed
her arms glaring at her father’s family, not able to keep down the jealousy.
“Go ahead Luke. We’ll talk later,” Faith nodded. “Your son needs you right now.”
Luke nodded and did what he was
told. Faith and Portia stood and
watched Luke embrace the son he had almost lost to Helena’s evil plans.
