Lucky didn’t wake up until the next
day. It was early morning and the whole
house was asleep. Zander shared a room
with Emily while Elizabeth slept in a chair next to Lucky’s bed, exhausted from
all the worries and fears. Kevin Collins slept on the couch, wanting to
be near by just in case Lucky needed him.
He stared up at the ceiling, wondering
if Madame was out looking for him and
if so, when will she arrive and punish both him and Zander for running away.
He really didn’t want to think about that. It was too horrible to think about. Well at least he can be thankful for one thing; he won’t have to
worry about pleasing Madame every night for a while.
Signing tiredly, he looked to his right
and saw Elizabeth asleep in a nearby chair.
She was as beautiful as she was in her picture. At that moment he wished he could give her a
normal life. That they didn’t have to
worry about Helena at every turn.
He remembered when he married Elizabeth. He had honestly believed that they were
finally free of Helena Cassadine and her diabolical plans. But he had been wrong. Helena hadn’t even began. He should not have married Elizabeth. He should have just let her go so she could
find someone normal and not have to worry about what Helena had in store for
them next. She could be living a nice,
quiet life right now if it wasn’t for him.
He turned away from her and stared up at
the ceiling, just thinking about all Helena had done to him. How she had touched him and claimed him for
herself and he had let her. All those
times in Helena’s bed, when he wanted to say no and push her away, he
couldn’t. His voice wouldn’t come out
and instead of pushing against her, his arms wrapped tightly around her and ignored
his commands to let go. He closed his
eyes against the images raising up in his head. Trying to forget the memory of her touch.
His eyes darted open in terror as he
felt a gentle feminine touch on his
forehead, fearing he’d find Helena towering over him. But instead he found Elizabeth, concern shining in her blue eyes.
“Lucky, you’re awake,” She took a
reluctant step back. She knew all too well that look in Lucky’s
eyes. She had once worn that look too.
Lucky didn’t answer. He just turned away, completely ashamed of
what he had allowed to happen. What could he say after that?
“Lucky…it wasn’t your fault,” Elizabeth
guessed what he was thinking. “She had
brainwashed you. She had you in her
complete control. There was no way you
could have resisted her.”
“I tried Elizabeth. I tried…but I couldn’t.”
“I know sweetie. I know.
She made it that way. Helena did
to you what Tom did to me. She just used
a different means of doing it.”
“Do you want to know the worse of
it? I want to go back. Right now I’m thinking of different ways to
escape here and get back to her and I can’t stop. No matter how hard I try.”
Elizabeth sat at the edge of the bed and
placed a gentle hand over his. “Do you want me to get Kevin?”
Lucky nodded. “I want to get deprogrammed as soon as
possible.”
Elizabeth nodded and left the room to
find Kevin. Lucky sighed. Maybe, just maybe everything will be ok
after all.

Kevin and Lucky have been at it for
hours, going over every single emotion and thought Helena invoked.
The other’s busied themselves, waiting
for the news that Lucky was fully deprogrammed and ready to begin life
again. Zander found Elizabeth staring
hopelessly out the window, her mind far away from the penthouse.
“Are you ok?” Zander asked, coming up
behind her. “You’ve been quiet since
Kevin went in there.”
“I hate her even more then I did before
and I hate Sarah too. How could they do
that to him and how could Sarah just stand by and let it happen?”
“Because they’re evil. Both of them,” Zander flatly replied. “Helena had Lucky so deep in her control…I
barely recognized him and they were going to do the same thing to me.”
“Thank God that you both escaped,”
Elizabeth hugged her brother tightly.
“And thank you for getting Lucky out when you did.”
“Yes.
Thank you,” Luke stood behind Zander.
“You could have gone by yourself and probably got home a lot quicker,
but you took my son with you and for that, I owe you a life debt.”
“You don’t owe me anything. Lucky’s my brother in law and I have a
pretty good feeling that he’d do the same for me.”
“He would too. We Spencer’s never think of ourselves.”
“Lucky?” Elizabeth stepped forward as
Kevin and Lucky entered the room. Kevin
had a secure hand on Lucky’s shoulder to show his support.
“I’m cured,” Lucky smiled for the first
time since his return. “I no longer
want to go back and Kevin showed me how to deal with the memories of what she
did to me.”
“Yes!” Zander cheered as Elizabeth embraced her husband,
never wanting to let him go again.
“It’s finally over,” Zander sighed in relief.
“No it’s not,” Laura’s voice was loud and clear. “As long as Helena’s alive it’ll never be
over. She’ll just keep on coming, until
she kills us or we kill her. Only then
will it be over.”
“Angel’s right. No
one let down their guard until Helena’s death is confirmed. But this will end soon. I promise you Cowboy, Helena’s days are
numbered.
