Silence
engulfed the small room that he was locked in, separated from the outside. He
glanced at the phone, one last time, trying to determine whether he should try
calling Elizabeth again. A little cough at the other end of the room changed
his mind. Helena had promised to take out her anger on Chance if Lucky tried
anything behind her back. He just couldn’t risk it. A soft sob now softly
reached his ears. Chance was awake and he was scared.
"Lucky…I
want my mommy," the child cried, snuggling into the corner he was sleeping
in.
Lucky
quickly got up and went to the boy, hoping to quiet him down before Helena’s
guard heard him. The burly man, who seemed to hate children had threatened to
rip the boy’s tonsil’s out if he made a sound. "Shhh Chance. Don’t cry. I
promise, I’ll get you home to your parents soon. Just don’t cry," Lucky
scooped him up into his arms and rocked him. "Shhh chance. You don’t want
the mean man to come back in here do you?"
"No,"
The boy sobbed, clinging to Lucky’s shirt, which was already rumpled from
sleeping.
"Well
then you’re going to have to stop crying. Be brave like your father. Can you do
that for me?"
Chance nodded and wiped away his tears. He just layed his head on Lucky’s
shoulder and slipped off into a restless sleep.
Lucky
sighed, wondering why this was happening to him once again. He had thought his
days of being held captive were over when he put that bullet in Faison’s head.
Now here he was again, locked away from the life he loved and he didn’t know if
he’d get to see the people he loved again.
"Good.
You’re still awake," Helena strolled in, her hand on her hip. "and I
see young Mr. Scorpio is asleep. At last."
"What
do you want Helena?" Lucky glared at his captor.
Helena
didn’t answer. She just turned and spoke to the guard that was standing behind
her. "Boris…please escort Mr. Spencer to my chambers. And make sure you
lock the door. I don’t want him to have a chance to escape."
"Yes
Madame," Boris nodded, entering the room. "Now we can do this the
easy way or the hard way. It’s up to you."
Lucky wanted
to resist with every ounce of Spencer blood in him, but looking down at Chance,
he knew it was a bad idea. He didn’t want to wake Chance up and cause him to be
even more afraid than he already was. Placing the sleeping child onto the bed,
Lucky followed the guard out of the room.
Smiling
evilly, Helena switched off the light and locked the door behind her on the way
out.
Fifteen
minutes later, Lucky was standing in Helena’s Suite, staring out into the
starless night, wondering what Elizabeth was doing. She was devastated of
course. He could tell that from her voice when they talked on the phone. A sob
almost overtook Lucky as he remembered the trembling and desparation of her
voice. All he could do was tell her he loved her and then Helena had cut the
connection.
Lucky closed
his eyes tightly as he remembered the night in her studio. They had made love
until the wee hours of the morning, lost in a world of their own. If he
concentrated enough he could smell the scent of her shampoo and feel the
softness of her skin. He could even hear the soft brush of her breath against
his skin as she whispered how much she loved him
"Elizabeth,"
He sighed, leaning his head against the cool pane of the window.
"You
might as well enjoy your memories of Elizabeth while you still can,"
Helena cruelly smiled as she entered the room. "Because this time tomorrow
she’ll be lucky if you even remember her name."
Lucky narrowed his eyes. "What are you up to now? Why did you kidnap me
again and took Chance as well."
Helena
smiled. "My dear Lucky. Set down. Make yourself comfortable in your new
room."
"New
room? Where will you be sleeping then if this is my new room?" Lucky soon
regretted that question by the steamy look in Helena’s eyes. He should have
known what her motive was by the way she was coming on to him in Kelly’s.
"My
dear Lucky. You will be Andreas’s replacement. You see, he’s gotten older and
now I need a new young plaything you can say. What better plaything than my old
nemesis son? It’ll kill Luke knowing I had his son in my bed."
"One
thing Helena. I don’t plan to cooperate. In fact as soon as I can, I’m getting
out of here and returning to my wife," Lucky growled.
She laughed.
"Oh Lucky…dear foolish Lucky. I’ve already thought of that. Dearest Faison
had left me specific instructions of how to brainwash one Lucky Spencer into
believing and forgetting anything I want."
Lucky’s eyes
widened. "No…"
"Yes.
Do you also want to know why I took Chance Scorpio? To keep you in line until
you are fully convinced of your position aboard my yacht. Then and only then
will I release the child. So you best behave if you care for the well-being of
Robert Scorpio’s son."
Looking at
his captor, he knew he was trapped. There was no way out of this unless his
father came bursting in at that moment. But still, a part of Lucky held hope.
Hope for Chance that was. Even though Lucky knew there was no hope for himself,
Helena had said she was going to release Chance as soon as she had what she
wanted. So for Chance’s sake, he was going to cooperate. As soon as he was
under Helena’s control the sooner Chance could go home.
"When
does this process begin?" Lucky asked, resignation was clear in his voice.
"Immediately,"
Helena takes out her cellphone to dial a number when Lucky grabbed her hand.
"Can I
at least talk to Elizabeth…one last time. Please….then you can do whatever you
want."
Helena was
frozen for a moment, her eyes thoughtful, then she shook her head. "You’ve
said your goodbyes already Lucky. Remember? Now, behave while I make my
call," She dialed her number. "Yes. The boy is ready for the process
to begin. No you will not be having any problems with him. He knows the
consequences of resisting. Good. Hurry. I want the boy under control as soon as
possible."
Lucky closed
his eyes tightly, knowing this was the last moments of freedom. His thoughts
were no longer going to be his own. He just prayed that Elizabeth would forgive
him and understand why he was giving in so easily. He also hoped that she could
remain safe and go on with her life when it became clear he wasn’t coming
home…well not yet anyway. A stored away a little spark of hope that his father
would find a way to get him back and make it so Helena could never hurt them
again.
"I’ll
see you soon Lucky," Helena seductively ran a hand down his arm before two
burly men entered and led him away to be reconditioned. Smiling with glee,
Helena went in search of Andreas to inform him that even though he was not free
to go, he wasn’t going to be needed as regularly. He was being replaced by a
newer model.
