Two days
later…
Alexis Davis
stuffs the last of her popcorn in her mouth as she leafs through her mail and
stops at the manilla envelope. Opening it, she finds a note in Helena’s elegant
handwritting.
Dearest
Alexis,
What seems
so lost is actually very near. Remember the birth of your precious twins? Yes I
know about you little…incident in Paris with Mr. Deluca and the resulting
pregnancy. I also know of the birth of your stillborn twins. Well my darling
the news I’m about to reveal will be quite shocking for you indeed.
My dear
Alexis, your children weren’t still born at all. I had them taken and replaced
with children that had died earlier that week. You had a boy and a girl, both
loud and quite annoying little creatures. I was quite happy to be rid of them.
I placed them in separate homes, where they grew up, without any knowledge of
you or each other.
Amazing
enough, they’re both here in Port Charles with lives of their own, and each are
now receiving the very same news you are receiving right now. So enjoy the joys
of motherhood my dear Alexis, however belated they may seem.
Helena.
"My
God," Alexis gasped tears appearing in her eyes. It’s been so long since
she’s even dared to think about her lost babies. Everytime she did she’d fall
apart thinking of what could have been if they lived. Now to find out it was
just a cruel joke by Helena…that witch! She looked over the forms and gasped
when she realized she knew both of the young people. In fact she’s spoken with
them a number of times. Alexander Smith and Elizabeth Webber Spencer. "Oh
my God!" Grabbing her purse, Alexis sprinted out of her apartment,
straight to L and B where Ned was working.

Lucky and
Zander were in the office, when the envelope for Zander had arrived. The poor
boy practically fainted when he read the contents.
"Zander?"
Lucky looked at Zander in concern.
"I
can’t believe it," Zander mummbled.
"Believe
what?" Lucky asked, wondering if he should call Emily.
"LUCKY!!!"
Elizabeth ran into the office and right into her husband’s arms, a manilla
envelope clutched in her hands.
"Elizabeth
what’s wrong? Is it Tom? Did he make another call?" Lucky is immediately
concerned, knowing that this wasn’t like Elizabeth. She was so upset and she
was clinging to him as if he might disappear. "Elizabeth?"
Elizabeth
pulled away and held out the envelope to her husband. "Tell me this is a
lie, some cruel joke cooked up by Helena. Please…"
Lucky
frowned at Helena’s name and took the envelope, reading the note and the
papers. "Oh my God. Does Alexis know?"
"Now I
do," the lawyer appeared in the doorway, her face grim, tears spilling
from her eyes.
"Are
these papers real?" Elizabeth asked.
Alexis
nodded. "Afraid so sweetie."
"Lucky,"
Elizabeth turned into her husband’s arms.
"But
why?" Zander asked, "Why would she do this then come out with the
truth now?"
"Because
she’s a sick, sadistic witch," Lucky answered, trying his best to comfort
his wife.
"I’m
sorry…I’m so sorry. I thought you both had died at birth. Helena had you
switched with babies that died earlier that week," Alexis tearfully
explained as Ned came out of his office. "If I had known that you were
still alive, I would have moved heaven and Earth to find you. I would never
have given you up."
"What’s
going on here?" Ned asked.
"Alexis
is my mother and Elizabeth is my twin sister," Zander flatly explained.
"Well that at least explains why you were so motherly over me."
"I
don’t understand," Ned looked at his fiancee.
"Twenty-one
years ago I gave birth to twins. I was told that they had died. I even saw the
bodies. It turns out that Helena took my babies and gave them to someone else
to raise. She’s just now came out with the truth."
"Why? Why now?" Zander asked.
"Because
she wants to destroy us all. The Spencers, plus the reminders of her husband’s
infidelity," Alexis grimly explained.
"Well
that at least explains why I never fit in with the Webbers," Elizabeth
laid her head on Lucky’s shoulder, letting him protectively cradle her in his
arms. "I was never one of them. Sarah is going to be ecstatic."
"So
will Nikolas. He’ll get two new cousins," Lucky replied.
"One
question here Alexis. You say we’re your kids," Zander cleared his throat.
"Would you mind telling us who the father is?"
Alexis swallowed. She knew the question was going to come up, she was just
hoping it wouldn’t come up too soon. She hated doing this to Roy because he was
deeply involved with Bobbie, Lucky’s Aunt, but she’s had enough of lies and if
push came to shove, Roy would have a reason to protect her children from
Helena’s evil ploys. She closed her eyes hoping for the best. "Roy
Deluca."
Lucky’s eyes
widened. "Aunt Bobbie’s Roy?"
Alexis
nodded. "It was a brief fling. The FBI was looking for evidence against my
employer and one of his assignments was to bed me for information. Of course I
didn’t have anything useful. He left soon after. I never mentioned him to
anyone else, but somehow Helena found out when she stole you from me."
Zander
snorted. "So we were nothing but the result of one of Deluca’s failed
assignments huh?"
"Oh
Zander no. You and your sister were what kept me going after Roy left me.
Knowing that I carried two precious beings and was responsible for their
well-being…I was crushed when it seemed I had failed."
"But if Roy was there, it wouldn’t have happened! Helena wouldn’t have
stolen us and we would have been together all this time!" Zander angrily
spat. "I always thought that Deluca was a coward, this only proves
it!"
"Zander
please…" Alexis tried to plead.
"No! He
left us to that witch’s mercy and I for one will never forgive him!"
Zander angrily stormed out of the room.
Alexis
turned to go after him, but Ned stopped her by placing a warning hand on her
arm. "Let him go. He has a lot of things to sort through."
"Can we
go home now?" Elizabeth pleadingly glanced up at Lucky who nodded.
"In a
minute sweetie," He looked at Alexis. "When are you going to tell
Roy? He does deserve to know."
"Soon.
I just need to get used to this myself. I mean I have two kids, all grown up…it’s
a lot to take in," Alexis nodded. "Elizabeth…I’m hopeing that you,
Zander, and I can get to know one another more. We’ve lost so much time
together…"
"I’ll
have to think about it," was Elizabeth’s flat answer. "Lucky can we
go?"
"Ok
sweetie. Bye Alexis. Ned," Lucky led Elizabeth out of the office.
"Well
that went well," Alexis sighed, sinking into the nearest computer desk
chair. "I find out my still-born twins are alive and well and they both
hate me."
"No
they don’t. They’re just shell shocked. Everything they thought was their life
turned out to be a lie. It’s a lot to get dumped on you," Ned knelt before
Alexis and was surprised when she began to laugh. "What’s so funny?"
"Luke
Spencer! Elizabeth is his daughter in law and my daughter! I’m unofficially a
Cassadine! Can you just imagine his reaction when he finds out his son married
a Cassadine!" Alexis giggled. Seeing Alexis’s point, Ned began to laugh as
well.
"All
hell will probably break loose," Ned grinned.

Sarah was in
the living room reading a magazine when Lucky and Elizabeth arrived home.
Looking at her ‘sister’ Sarah knew that Elizabeth had just found out the truth.
Now was a good time to rub it in.
"Oh
Lizzie you’re home. Mom and dad called and invited me to dinner since they’re
coming into town next week. Are you joining us?" Sarah innocently smiled.
Elizabeth
just looked at her for a couple of seconds then ran upstairs in tears.
"What
did I say?" Sarah faked concern.
"Elizabeth
just found out something she never suspected. She’ll tell you later,"
Lucky rushed upstairs after his wife, leaving Sarah to smile in satisfaction.
Helena Cassadine was a genius if she said so herself.
