Lucky and Liz find themselves setting on Kelly’s patio. Neither knew where to start the discussion of the kiss at.

"Hey Lucky, Liz," Katie appeared at the table, notepad in hand. "What may I do for you?"

"Cheeseburger and a iced tea," Lucky ordered.

"Same here," Elizabeth smiled.

"Ok, two cheeseburgers and two iced teas. I’ll have them out here for you in a second," Katie smiled, disappearing back into the restaurant.

Silence filled the space between Lucky and Liz. Neither knowing where to start.

"Liz…"

"Lucky…"

Lucky laughed. "You first."

"We kissed the other night."

"I know," Lucky sighed.

"What does it mean? Do we start where we left off or…?"

"No! I mean I don’t know…Elizabeth…I think it’s pretty much impossible to start where we left off. There were too many problems then…problems that we were both trying to ignore. Jason was a part of them…but he wasn’t the only reason."

"I don’t understand."

"…Elizabeth, after we defeated Helena, I had a lot of time to think over the past couple of years. And you leaving with Jason was one of them and the reason why you left. I understand now. We were trying to rebuild what we had before the fire, but the truth was we were no longer those two idealistic kids. We had our own wants and dreams and we both were trying to ignore those to make the other one happy. And finally, with the help of Morgan, it pulled us apart."

"Lucky…what are you trying to say? You don’t want to get back together?"

"Not the way we were before. We need to get to know one another again. We need to start all over again. It’s going to take hard work and time. I just want to make sure you know what you’re getting into here. Any relationship we may have has to start out as friends first."

"You have to learn to trust me again right?" Elizabeth sighed, gazing at the table, once again regretting her decision to leave with Jason.

"I’m sorry but yes. You really did hurt me Elizabeth. Especially when you began lying about seeing him. Granted, that was partly my fault but you still lied and you still chose Jason over me."

We both lie silently still
in the dead of the night
Although we both lie close together
We feel miles apart inside

Was it something I said or something I did
Did the words not come out right
Though I tried not to hurt you
Though I tried
But I guess that's why they say

Chorus:
Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn

Yeah it does

"I’m sorry Lucky…believe me when I say I wish I hadn’t done any of those things. I wish…I wish I could have been the girl that you needed me to be back then…"

I listen to our favorite song
playing on the radio
Hear the DJ say loves a game of easy come and
easy go
But I wonder does he know
Has he ever felt like this
And I know that you'd be here somehow
If I could have let you know somehow
I guess

Chorus

Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn

Lucky sighed. "Elizabeth, that’s my point. You weren’t that girl. You grew and so did I. I wasn’t that oh so understanding boyfriend that you needed me to be either. We both had changed. We need to take time and get to know each other as those people again. Not as teenagers, but as adults with more complex feelings and needs. Because if we try to pick up from where we left off…it’s not going to work. Do you understand?"

Though it's been a while now
I can still feel so much pain
Like a knife that cuts you the wound heals
but the scar, that scar remains

Solo

I know I could have saved a love that night
If I'd known what to say
Instead of makin' love
We both made our separate ways

But now I hear you found somebody new
and that I never meant that much to you
To hear that tears me up inside
And to see you cuts me like a knife

She nodded and clear her throat. "So what do we do now? Where do we start?"

"From here. From scratch. We’ll start going out on dates and getting to know one another better. We’ll build from there," Lucky grinned, gently taking Elizabeth’s hand in his.

Elizabeth smiled. "I think I can live with that."

I guess

Chorus

Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn

Every Rose has its thorns-Poison
