The next two days were days that both Lucky and Elizabeth avoided
each other. Both had a lot to think about after the kiss they had shared. It
was Elizabeth’s day off and she was at Kelly’s sketching a design she had in
mind when Emily came in and took a seat at the table.
"Rumor has it that you’re working at Deception," Emily leaned on
the table, supporting her chin with her hand.
"It’s not a rumor," Elizabeth closed her sketch pad.
"I’m designing the dresses for Gia."
"Oh wow. Does Lucky know?"
Elizabeth nodded. "He was there when Laura hired me."
Emily frowned. "You know…I haven’t seen you two together in
the past couple of days."
"I know. We’re both busy," Elizabeth bit her lip.
"Well…actually, I think we’re avoiding each other."
"Why would you do that?"
Elizabeth sighed and buried her head in her hands, not wanting to
face Emily. "I kissed him."
"You what!" Emily almost screamed in shock but lowered
her voice. "When did that happen? How did it happen?"
Elizabeth sighed and lifted her face. "Two days ago. I don’t
know what happened. I just had to kiss him and he kissed me back."
"What did you say when you two came up for air?"
"Nothing. And I haven’t seen him since that night. I think I scared him
away."
"I don’t think so,"Emily looked at Kelly’s entrance.
"Look behind you."
Elizabeth looked at the entrance and gasped when she saw Lucky
come in with Gia and Nikolas. He was even better looking than the last time she
saw him.
Spotting Elizabeth, Lucky headed for her table. "Hey you
two," Lucky softly smiled. "What are you two up to?"
"Oh we’re just gossiping," Emily smiled, looking at her
watch. "Oh my, look at the time. I have to meet Zander at Sonny’s. I totally
forgot. I’ll see you guys!" Emily got up and began for the door, leaving
Elizabeth and Lucky alone.
"She’s in a hurry," Lucky looked after his friend.
"I think she had an ulterior motive," Elizabeth
shrugged. "Uh…do you want to set down?"
"Uh…I can’t. I’m just here to pick up some sandwiches.
They’re having a jam session at L&B and we’re on our way there now. Hey, do
you want to come with us?"
"Uh…I don’t know if that’s a good idea," Elizabeth
glanced in Nikolas’s direction. "I don’t think Nikolas would like
that."
Lucky rolled his eyes. "Forget Nikolas. He won’t say
anything. Besides, I feel like a third wheel. So I’m not taking no for an
answer."
Elizabeth laughed. "You never give up do you?"
"You know I don’t," Lucky grinned and held out a hand.
"Come on. Let’s go."
Taking his hand, they approach Gia and Nikolas.
"Elizabeth…" Nikolas looked at his brother.
"She’s coming with us," Lucky’s voice was firm, giving
signals that there was going to be no arguments.
"If you say so," Nikolas coldly replied, grabbing Gia’s
hand and led her out of Kelly’s.
"He’s not happy," Elizabeth looked after them.
"He’ll get over it," Lucky shrugged leading Elizabeth
out of Kelly’s.
"So who’s playing?" Elizabeth asked as they entered the
studio.
"You have heard of Usher haven’t you? Ned got him to come
show our musicians how R and B is done," Gia explained. "This is
going to be so cool. Usher is so…so…sexy."
"Hey!" Nikolas glared at his fiancee.
"But not as sexy as you," Gia pinched Nikolas’s cheek.
"Nice save," Lucky laughed. "Come on Liz. We’ll set
here," Lucky led her to a loveseat, just big enough for the two of them.
"Uh…Lucky…we need to talk," Elizabeth cleared her
throat. "About the other night…"
"We’ll talk later," Lucky looked at her, his eyes cloudy
with emotion. It was obvious he was still confused. He loved Elizabeth, he
really did. But he wanted to make sure that it was forever this time. That if
Jason showed back up, she’d send him packing. "We’re good friends right?
Before anything else?"
Elizabeth readily nodded. "Of course. Above all else. But we
still need to discuss that kiss."
"I know," Lucky nodded. "But not now. We need to be
alone."
Elizabeth nodded and turned just in time to see the popular singer
appear on the makeshift stage Nikolas had set up.
"Hey L&B!" Usher greeted "It’s nice for ya’ll
to have me here. I’m going to start this off with a song for all you lovers
who’s Jonesing for one another! Just set back and relax and listen:
Oh, no, no, no, no, no...
When you feel it in your body
You found somebody who makes you change your ways
Like hanging with your crew
Said you act like you're ready
But you don't really know
And everything in your past - you wanna let it go
I've been there, done it, f***ed around
After all that - this is what I found
Nobody wants to be alone
If you're touched by the words in this song
Then baby...
U got, u got it bad
When you're on the phone
Hang up and you call right back
U got, u got it bad
If you miss a day without your friend
Your whole life's off track
You know you got it bad when you're stuck in the house
You don't wanna have fun
It's all you think about
U got it bad when you're out with someone
But you keep on thinkin' bout somebody else
U got it bad
Elizabeth’s eyes are drawn to Lucky. This song seemed to fit their
very situation. For the past couple of days they have spent apart, she had
thought about nothing but him. Every day that went by that she hadn’t seen him,
she had wanted to stay in her room and mope.
When you say that you love 'em
And you really know
Everything that used to matter, don't matter no more
Like my money, all my cars
(You can have it all back)
Flowers, cards and candy
(I do it just cause I'm...)
Said I'm fortunate to have you girl
I want you to know
I really adore you
All my people who know what's going on
Look at your mate, help me sing my song
Lucky looked at Elizabeth, feeling her set so close to him, he
felt like repeating the kiss they had shared. He sighed, if he only had the
courage to open up and confess his feelings. That he really loved her, more
than anything. Damn Jason Morgan to hell for coming between them the way he
had, just because he was looking for a replacement for Robin Scorpio.
Tell her I'm your man, you're my girl
I'm gonna tell it to the whole wide world
Ladies say I'm your girl, you're my man
Promise to love you the best I can
Elizabeth inwardly sighed. If only she could speak those words to
Lucky and have him instantly know she means it. If he took her back, she’d work
so hard to love him and stand by him. To never leave his side again. No matter
what any other man may promise her.
See I've been there, done it, f***ed around
After all that - this is what I found
Everyone of y'all are just like me
It's too bad that you can't see
That you got it bad...hey
U got, u got it bad
When you're on the phone
Hang up and you call right back
U got, u got it bad
If you miss a day without your friend
Your whole life's off track
You know you got it bad when you're stuck in the house
You don't wanna have fun
It's all you think about
U got it bad when you're out with someone
But you keep on thinkin' bout somebody else
U got it bad
Lucky glanced at Elizabeth one last time. He wanted to trust her
like he used to, but his father was right when he said it’d take time and
effort to regain any of the trust that had been broken by Elizbeth’s
relationship with Jason. Hopefully, he could get that trust back, but if not…
breakdown

The small audience stood and applauded the song and returned to
their seats as the singer began another song. Elizabeth and Lucky looked at one
another and turned back to the concert, setting in an uncomfortable silence.
