TWENTY-FOUR
Liz smiles as she walks down the aisle towards Lucky, who looked
rather handsome in his tux. She looks to her right and smiles at the sight of
Gram setting with her parents and Sarah, dabbing away some stray tears. She
noticed Laura and Luke too had tears in their eyes. She smiles realizing this
as tears of joy for once, not of sadness and pain. For once the people she
loved was truly happy.
"You look beautiful," Lucky smiled as she steps up on
the podium.
"Did you know my parents were going to be here?"
"They are?" Lucky feigns innocence. "Audrey called
yesterday and told me that Sarah and your parents were coming. I’m sorry I
didn’t tell you. I thought it’d be a nice surprise."
"It was. Thank you."
"Ahem," the priest clears his throat for silence.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the joining of
these two very special young people. Elizabeth Imogene Webber and Lucas Lorenzo
Spencer Jr. We have seen these two through the good times and the bad and still
they’ve come out all the stronger and deeper in love. Elizabeth and Lucas have
written their own vows for this special event. Are you two ready?"
They nod. It’s Elizabeth who speaks first.
"Lucky…how can I put into words how much you’ve meant to me
in the past and mean to me now. When I first came to port charles, and as
everyone knows, I was a brat. The one thing I truly wanted was the good looking
guy with the crush on my sister to notice me. I did everything short of jumping
off a bridge to get your attention. And I did…even though it wasn’t the type of
attention I was striving for, but hey you were at least talking to me. Then
that awful night happened, and you were my knight in shining armor. You picked
me up and taught me how to love and trust again and for that I’m entirely
grateful. We’ve seen so many facets of each other. We seen each other angry,
happy, sad, filled with hatred at times and we always talked each other down.
"You are not only my lover, but my best friend and this day,
joining us forever…I will always hold it in my heart. And I hope and pray that
someday our child will be able to find a love as whole and complete as ours.
You have my heart Lucky. And that’s a permanent Lock. Now, today,
forever." Elizabeth doesn’t bother to stop the tears from rolling down her
eyes. She was so overcome with emotion.
"Elizabeth. There are no words to describe how I feel for
you. Love…it’s not a strong enough word. Take the word love, adore, like,
admire, care…roll them up in one and multiply them by one hundred and they
still wouldn’t be strong enough to describe my love for you. That night…when I
wrote that song for you, it came from my heart. From a love that I didn’t dare
admit to because I didn’t want to scare you away. Then that day when I did say
I love you and you said you loved me back…that was the happiest day of my life.
I could have stood on the highest rooftop in Chicago and shout out with joy
that Elizabeth Webber loved me. You’ve done so much for me Elizabeth, more than
you’ve ever known. You were there during the time I ran away from home and even
for a short time joined me, much to your grandmother's chagrin. When I was in doubt
about myself, you were there to believe in me…to reassure me that I was a
person worthy of your friendship. You’ve forced me not to only make peace with
my parents, but to embrace a close relationship with my brother. All these
things Elizabeth and I am forever grateful to you. You have my heart Elizabeth.
And that’s a permanent lock. Everything I am is in love with you, my mind,
body, and spirit. Now and forever."
Elizabeth is freely crying now and a few stray tears are now in
Lucky’s eyes as well.
"Exchange rings please and repeat after me," The
reverend nods. "I Elizabeth Imogene Webber."
"I Elizabeth Imogene Webber."
"Take Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr."
"Take Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr."
"As my lawfully wedded husband."
"As my lawfully wedded husband."
"To have and to hold."
"To have and to hold."
"Throught good times and bad."
"Through good times and bad."
"Sickness and health."
"Sickness or health."
"For richer and poorer."
"For richer and poorer."
"Til death do we part."
"Til death do we part."
"Lucas, you do the same."
Lucky takes the ring and places it on Elizabeth’s finger and
repeats the same vows.
"Now with all the power invested in me, I now pronounce you
man and wife. You may kiss the bride," The priest smiles joyfully, happy
to marry such a young couple so much in love.
Lucky smiles and holds Elizabeth close as he kisses her deeply and
fully. He kissed her like he never kissed her before.
"May I now announce Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr.
May no man asset you under!" The priest declares as Lucky and Elizabeth
walks back down the aisle amoung the loud applause of their family and friends.
