Chapter Nine

Two hours later they have arrived in Port Charles and safely in Jason’s penthouse. Lucky is in Jason’s room sleeping comfortably while Jason is making arrangements to have Lucky, Liz, and Nikolas guarded around the clock.

Carly stands in the corner watching Nikolas and Elizabeth talk about who was going to keep Lucky with whom until they were sure Helena and Faison was neutralized, but to her the answer was obvious.

"Why doesn’t Lucky just stay here with Jason and me? Helena and Faison don’t know nor care about us. We have no real connection to Lucky, except I’m a cousin but not a very close one. It’ll also be easier for Jason to guard Lucky from here," Carly interrupts the conversation.

"I don’t think so," Elizabeth crosses her arms. She didn’t want to have to ask Carly’s permission just to see her boyfriend.

"I don’t want my brother anywhere near that criminal longer than he has to be," Nikolas glares over at Jason. It was bad enough that Jason took Liz’s friendship away from him. He wasn’t about to let him claim his brother as well.

"What’s more important to you two? Your pride and jealousy or Lucky’s safety?" Carly looks at the two of them. For two people who were supposed to love Lucky more than anything, they sure weren’t acting like it.

Elizabeth sighs irritably. She hated to amit it, but Carly had a point. Lucky’s safety came before everything, even before her pride. "I hate to say it but you’re right. Lucky’s safety comes before whatever feelings I have towards you."

Nikolas bows his head and nods in agreement. "Fine. Lucky stays here until we find a better place."

"If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go check on him," Elizabeth disappears into the master bedroom just as Jason enters.

"Everything okay in here?" He asked.

"Great. Liz, Nikolas, and I have come to a decision. Until further notice Lucky stays with us," Carly smiles.

Jason looks at her strangely. As if he’s asking her if she was serious. "Carly. Lucky is Liz’s boyfriend. Meaning she will be over here probably twenty-four seven to be with him. Can you keep your jealousy under control for that long?"

Carly laughs. "Jason. With Lucky back, there’s no reason to be jealous. She hasn’t even looked at you once since he’s been back. There’s no reason for me to be jealous anymore."

"You just make sure that your business doesn’t touch my brother," Nikolas glares at Jason. "Lucky already has Helena gunning for him. He doesn’t need your enemies out for his blood too."

"Nikolas I think you’re getting out of line…" Carly begins, but Jason shoots her a look telling her to shut up.

"Nikolas, as long as Lucky is here, I’ll be conducting my business elsewhere. Believe me, my business will not come anywhere near your brother. You have my word."

"Your word doesn’t mean much to me Jason. But since I’m outvoted here, I have no choice but to go along. But if even a call guy for one of the mob bosses show up on your doorstep, I’m taking my brother out of here."

Jason nods. "That’s reasonable. Ok fine. But for now Lucky stays here."

Suddenly a cry from the nursery is heard.

"Micheal," Jason turns to Carly.

"I’ll go get him," Carly smiles. "Behave you two."

Both men just watch her disappear into the nursery .

Elizabeth lays next to Lucky, watching him sleep. Sighing happily she leans back against the pillows. This time last week she had thought she’d never be near him again, but now, here she was with her Lucky. It was a dream come true.

She closes her eyes and is about to drift off to sleep when she feels his hand slightly touch her cheek. She smiles and opens her eyes to stare into his beautiful blue eyes. "You’re awake."

"And you’re about to go to sleep. I’m sorry I woke you," Lucky sets up.

"Don’t be sorry. I’m glad you did. We haven’t had a moment alone since we found you," Elizabeth smiles, reaching up to stroke his hair.

"Talking about that, what were you and Nikolas think you were doing?"

"What?"

"Going to Greece and tracking me to Paris? What if Helena caught up with you before you two found me? What if we hadn’t gotten away from Faison? You two could have gotten yourselves killed."

"What would you have had us do Lucky? You were in trouble?" Liz sets up.

"Go to my father. Let him handle it," Lucky crossed his arms. "He’s used to this kind of thing Elizabeth.

Elizabeth sighed. "Nikolas was afraid he’d jump off the handle and get you killed. We did what we thought was best Lucky, and I’m not sorry. If given the chance I’d do it all again."

Lucky smiles and shakes his head. "Just don’t do anything like that again ok? I want you safe and sound."

"I understand. And I promise the next time I have the urge for heroics, I’ll let your father know first," She leans back into his embrace. "So how do you feel about this being your new home?"
Lucky shrugs. "What’s the deal with Carly, Jason, you and Nikolas. You all act like you couldn’t stand being in the same room together."

Elizabeth sighs tiredly. She knew that he could pick up on the negativity between his group of rescuers, but how can she explain it to him? "Let’s see. Nikolas hates Jason and Carly hates me."

"Why?"

"Long story. Let’s just say that Jason and I became friends and Carly and Nikolas couldn’t stand it," Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "It’s really rather childish if you ask me. I do think thought that Nikolas is scared that Jason will replace him in your life though."

"Huh? Why?"

Elizabeth sighs. "Well, after Jason and I became friends, Nikolas became really jealous and we had kind of grew apart. Nikolas blames Jason and I think he’s afraid that the same thing is going to happen with you."

"Well that explains Nikolas. But what about Carly? Why does she dislike you?"

"Because she thinks I’m after Jason, which is totally ridiculous. The guy’s half my age for one thing and another, I’m deeply in love with someone else."

"And would that someone just so happen to be yours truly?" Lucky smiled, his attempt at humor for the first time since his return.

"No. Of course not. It’s Leonardo Dicaprio," Elizabeth giggled. "Of course it’s you. No one else."

"I love you Elizabeth. I’m so sorry you had to go past the whole year thinking I was dead."

"Shhh, it’s not your fault. It’s Helena’s and believe me, she is going to pay for what she and Faison did to you. What exactly did she do anyway?"
That was when Lucky totally shut down. His captivity wasn’t something he wanted to talk about. "It’s not important. So when’s my dad coming?"

"We haven’t called him yet. We thought you might want your rest first. Were we right?"

Lucky shrugged.

"Hey cuz. You sleep?" Carly stuck her head through the door.

"No. Come on in," Lucky invited. "Hey I want to thank you for letting me hide out here for a while. It means a lot."

"It’s no problem. The least I can do for family."

"About that too…I know in the past, my father’s given you a hard time…I just wanted to say…that I appreciate everything you did coming to Paris and all."

"Don’t mention it. And no matter what Luke says, we’re family. We Spencer’s stick together."

"Carly?" Jason stuck his head in. "Lucky…you’re awake."

"Yeah. I decided to stop moping in bed and wake up."

"Good. I’m glad. Listen I have to go to a meeting. If you need anything just let Carly or one of my men know. Ok?"

Lucky only nodded. "Sure. And Jason…I’m sorry about the bike shop getting burned."

"Hey that’s not your fault. It was Helena’s. Now get some rest," Jason flatly replied before leaving the room.

"I’ll go tell Leticia to get dinner started," Carly replied. "Oh and Liz, let me know when you’re ready to leave. I’ll have one of Johnny’s men escort you back to your place."

"Thanks Carly," Elizabeth forced a smile. "But I don’t think I’ll be leaving anytime soon."

Carly just shrugged and left the room.

"Elizabeth…are you absolutely positive that Helena won’t find me here? I don’t want anything bad to happen to Jason and Carly just because they’re helping me."

"Positive. Jason made sure that your identity was completely hidden. Not even the doorman knows who you are," Elizabeth squeezed his hand in reassurance. "Don’t worry Lucky. You’re completely safe here."

Helena paced the deck of her yacht, furious with the incompetence of her partner over in Europe. She glared at the phone in betrayal.

"The boy couldn’t have just disappeared off the face of the earth! How about my Grandson and Miss. Webber. Have you found them? No? Faison, it’s Europe. Their plan is gone, no mode of transportation, they have to be there somewhere. Unless…they’ve had help from someone, but I can’t for the life of me imagine who. I mean the Quartermaines are too self-absorbed to help. Well you better find them. I cannot afford Luke Spencer to find out that his son is alive and well just yet. It’s not the right time to activate the programming. But if Lucky’s somehow made it back…I’ll have no choice. Well we’ll see," Helena shut off her cell phone. "Arrgggh!"

"Madame!" Andreas rush onto the dock to see why his mistress was screaming. "Are you alright Madame? Or you ill?"

"I’m fine Andreas. Lucky Spencer has disappeared off the face of the earth along with my grandson and Elizabeth Webber. I want them found Andreas and I want them found now! If I find out that they’ve had help, I’ll make the rescuers pay also."

"What do you want me to do Madame?"

"Put my men on the trail. Faison obviously botched the job. I need this done right. Done silently, yet elegantly."

"Yes Madame, I’ll get started right away," Andreas bowed, backing back into the yacht.

"Enjoy your freedom Lucky. Because soon it’ll be all over for you and your parents."
