It
was two hours after the dinner at Kelly’s and Lucky’s reconciliation with his
father. Elizabeth discovered that she was too tired to make the walk across
town to her grandmother’s and knew that it’d be easier just to stay the night
at Lucky’s which was a shorter distance to walk. So after calling Audrey, who
had reluctantly agreed, Elizabeth and Lucky made the walk to the apartment. A
half hour later they set in his room, lighting candles.
"That
was a great dinner," Elizabeth sighed happily.
"Yeah,"
Lucky smiled, lighting the last candle.
"And
you and your father…that was so great. You two can be close again,"
Elizabeth sighed.
"Well
we at least came to a new understanding," Lucky laughs, going over to his
girlfriend and kissing her passionately. "Ready for bed?"
"Oh
I don’t know. I’m too excited. I mean…new opportunities are now opened to both
of us. New York, the art academy…You enrolling in NYU to major in computer
science?"
"Whoa. Where did that come from?" Lucky laughed.
"Just
a guess. Am I wrong? Isn’t computers your passion?"
"For
now they are. But things change Elizabeth. I might not want to be in Computers
forever."
"Well
what ever you want to do…I’m behind you one hundred percent. Just like you’re
standing behind me. Lucky…I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy in all my
life. I have a great home, a wonderful boyfriend and a future to look forward
to."
"A
future together," Lucky pulls her close as they get into bed.
"Together forever."
"Always,"
Elizabeth smiled, kissing him tenderly. "I love you Lucky."
"I
love you more."
"Good
night," Elizabeth finally closes her eyes, just to open them again.
"Lucky the candles…"
"I’ll
blow them out," Lucky leaves the bed and strolls over to the table where
the candles are lit.
"Hurry
Lucky," Elizabeth looks over to him, missing the warmth of his body next
to hers.
"Coming,"
Lucky blows out the candles, hoping back into the bed and snuggling up close to
her. "Better?"
"Much
better," Elizabeth sighs contently and drifts off to sleep.
Two
hours later, Elizabeth awakens and shivers. Something was wrong? Something was
terribly different. She gasps when she hears a loud crash and looks over to
Lucky to find that he’s not in bed. She looks up and gasps, there was Lucky
struggling with two masked men dressed in black. The men have their hands
clamped tightly over his mouth. He blue eyes were wide open in terror. He must
have knocked over the stack of books that were laying on the table.
"Lucky!"
Elizabeth darts out of bed and is about to go help Lucky when she too is grabbed
from behind. "Lucky!!! No!!!" She screams in terror struggling
against the tight hold her captors had on her. Her eyes widen as the men
holding lucky presses a white rag over his nose and mouth. His eyes slowly grow
dazed and finally shut, all sighs of a struggle has vanished. "Lucky!!!
What did you do to him?!!"
The
men don’t answer as they lift Lucky up and carry him out of the room.
"No
Lucky!!! Come back!!! Come back!!!" Elizabeth’s cries are silenced by a
rag pressing against her mouth and nose. She knew she shouldn’t breath in, but
after a couple of minutes, she couldn’t resist. Her panic rose as her eyes grew
heavy and it became harder to move. Soon she too sunk into dark oblivion. Only
the comforting darkness cradled her thoughts as the men carried her out of the
apartment and moved ahead with their orders.
