Elizabeth hugged her shoulders as she stood in the lobby of the
terminal she came in through. Lucky was going to be there any second and
Elizabeth was terribly nervous. Even though Lucky sounded rather friendly on
the phone, she knew he must be angry with her. After all, she had left him when
he was dealing with the brainwashing with Helena, a time he needed her most.
And now here she was once again needing his help and true to form, Lucky was
riding in with his white horse to rescue her. It just seemed so unfair.
Elizabeth is about to go set down on the loveseat against the far
wall when she suddenly spots him. She stands frozen. He was even better looking
than he was when she last saw him. His blue eyes seemed brighter and sparkled
with a light that hadn’t been there since his return. His blond hair was combed
so it framed his face, kind of like Brians from the Backstreet Boy’s. He’s eyes
searched the crowd and lit up when he spotted her. He seemed genuinely happy.
"Elizabeth!" Lucky waved making his way towards her.
Finally her feet were able to move and she met him in a bear hug.
"Lucky you’re here," She kept the sob out of her voice.
There was no need for him to know how desperate and devastated Jason had left
her in Italy.
"Always," Lucky’s voice shone with genuine affection.
"No matter what Elizabeth, we were always best friends. Why wouldn’t I be
here for you?"
"Because I wasn’t there for you when you needed me to,"
Elizabeth’s voice was full of guilt.
Lucky rubbed her face gently and stared into her eyes. "You
were in my heart and that’s what mattered ok. Besides, it was best that you
weren’t here. Things got a lot worse before they got better and I wouldn’t have
wanted you in Helena’s line of fire."
"So you forgive me?"
"Of course," Lucky nodded. "Now let’s get you out
of this crowded airport and we can head for town. Are you hungry? I can take
you to Eli’s."
Much to her embarrassment her stomach growled. Ever since she got
the note from Jason, she had been nibbling here and there, not really up to
eating a full course meal. But now that she was back in the U.S. with Lucky,
she was suddenly ravenous. "That’d be great."
"Well then come on then," Lucky led the way out of the
airport.
