The Spencer family are packed into the police station, wanting to make sure that Luke wasn’t railroaded. Laura, who was very livid when she heard about Luke being jailed, gasped in surprise as Taggert led Jason to the interrogation room. Sonny was behind them, looking rather upset.

"Sonny," Laura went to him, touching his arm carefully. "What’s going on? Why is Jason in there with Taggert?"

Sonny took a deep breath, guilt and remorse filling him. He knew that all of this was his fault. He should never have brought Jason in on his and Luke’s plans for Tom Baker. "He’s confessing Laura."

Laura blinked in surprise. She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. "Tom Baker?"

Sonny only nodded, looking away from Laura. Unable to face the confusion in her eyes. "Luke’s walking today."

Over come with joy, love, relief and gratitude, Laura squealed and threw her arms around the mobster that had became a friend to her and her family over the years. "Thank you."

"Well…I once made a promise to take care of your family. So I did," Sonny shrugged, feeling rather modest at the moment. He wasn’t used to gratitude. Usually people blamed him. They never thanked him before. It was a pretty good feeling.

"This won’t be forgotten Sonny."

He only smiled sheepishly, again avoiding Laura’s eyes. He couldn’t help thinking that she was one beautiful woman and if it weren’t for Luke…but he erased the thought and met her eyes again. "You better go tell the others. Good luck in the future Laura," Sonny squeezed her hand before disappearing into the interrogation room with Jason, Taggert, and Alexis.

Teaming with excitement, Laura gathered Bobbie, Lucky, Elizabeth, Lulu, Lucas and Leslie together. Her eyes were shining with unsurpassed joy. "Jason’s confessing to Tom’s murder! Luke’s going free!"

"Dad!" Lucky flew into his father’s arms, hugging him tightly, after being freed from the cuffs. Lucky had been so scared that his father would be put away forever, all thanks to him. The relief to see Luke free was actually overwhelming..

"See Cowboy. I didn’t do it," Luke grinned happily.

"This calls for a celebration," Bobbie smiled brightly, hugging Lucas close to her, especially touched by the father son reunion. Luke and Lucky were always going to have a close relationship. This reunion made it obvious.

"Sure does," Luke pulled away from his son and scooped his daughter up into his arms. "Everyone to Luke’s! Food and drinks are on the house, all day long!"

Elizabeth laughed as Lucky returned to her side, wrapping a warm arm around her shoulders. Looking up at her husband, she was overcome with the feeling of love and actual belonging. She sighed and placed her head on his shoulder. "I’ll just take food and Sprite," she lovingly rubbed her growing belly.

"Let’s get out of here," Lucky led Elizabeth to the door, being sure to keep a arm around her. He loved the feeling of her in his arms. Warm and stable. The one constant in his life besides Luke and Laura. "I’ve had enough of this place to last me a lifetime."

"Hear, hear!" Luke agreed, happy to be finally free. Sure, it was only one night. But to a free spirited man like himself…it felt like an eternity.

Their troubles were momentarily forgotten. The Spencer’s headed for Luke’s, looking forward to the joy of just being together as a family.
