CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Lucky returns home to find that Elizabeth wasn’t there. Only Beth and remained, watching after a sleeping Laura.

"Where’s Elizabeth?" He asked.

"I don’t know. She went out of here like she was on a mission. I think she said something about a studio. So how’s Luke and Stefan holding up? The McCoy’s sticking to their story?"

"Of course. They’re so hell bent on destroying our lives…I feel so awful. This was supposed to be a happy day for both Liz and myself. And now it’s all ruined. Right now we’re supposed to be in New York not here worrying how long my dad’s going to be in jail and what else the McCoys have up their sleeves."

"Oh Lucky…" Beth places a comforting hand on his shoulder when Nikolas comes in with his cell phone.

"Lucky…I have news. Luke and Stefan are out of jail."

"What?" Lucky asks in disbelief. "How?"

"Sonny Corinthos. He gave them a alibi. Turns out that he had taken Luke and Stefan out on the town last night. At the time of the attack all three men were in a strip joint watching some girl named Lola take it off. He even brought the stripper in to back up the story."

"Sonny Corinthos? Wasn’t he that mobboss you two introduced me to?"

"That’s the one," Lucky sighs in relief. "I don’t know how

we’re going to repay him for this."
"Plus Elizabeth called. She wants you at the studio as soon as possible. By how she sounds, I wouldn't keep her waiting."

"Thanks man," Lucky hugs his brother.

"Don’t just stand there. Your wife is waiting," Nikolas laughs as Lucky bolts out the door.

"That was good of Mr. Corinthos to do that," Beth crossed her arms.

"I guess. It’s not like he doesn’t lie often. Stefan was in his office last night, but there’s no way to prove it. I bet he’s thrilled to have to thank Mr. Corinthos for what he did."

"And you? Are you grateful?" Beth asked, one eyebrow raised.

"Of course. I hate to think that my Uncle is in jail because of something I dragged him into."

"Nikolas, you didn’t drag him into this. He came in willingly. To tell the truth I was surprised. He seemed so cold when I first met him"

"You see, that’s the thing about Stefan. When you first meet him, you think he’s a cold emotionless man. But when you get to know him or become a person he cares about very much, that cold façade fades."

"Now I know what my mother means when she says not to judge a book by it’s cover. But poor Lucky. This was supposed to the best day of his life and like everything else, the McCoy’s ruin it."

"Hey don’t worry about Lucky. He’s stronger than you think. He’s probably used to this type of thing."

"Yeah, but…"

"You care about my brother don’t you?" Nikolas places his hands in his pocket, feeling a tinge of jealousy.

"Only as a friend. I know he loves Elizabeth. In fact, I do like a brother, but he’s the wrong one,"Beth shyly smiles.

Nikolas looks at her and sighs with desire. He knew that he was the one Beth wanted, but there situation was hopeless. Katherine had a tight hold on him with her pregnancy and he couldn’t find a way out. "Beth…I like you too. Ok. But…a relationship between me and you…it’s impossible. You see, Katherine Bell…she’s my fiancee. I don’t love her but she’s…"

Nikolas couldn’t finish. Beth had embraced him and her lips were perfectly fitted against his. He tried to resist the urge to respond, but he couldn’t. Soon enough his arms were wraped around her and he was kissing her with just as much passion. Both knew what was about to happen and wasn’t going to bother stopping it.

Lucky slowly enters the studio and gasps. Lights were shrewn every where and a romantic candle-lit table was set up in the center. A soft feather mattress with a red satin blankets, sheets, and pillows were set up in the corner. A bottle of champagne was chilling in a bucket of ice and a bowl of strawberries were setting right by the bed. Elizabeth had gone all out.

"It’s about time you’ve arrived," Elizabeth smiles seductively standing against the wall in the white silk night gown that Sarah had brought her for a wedding gift.

"Where did you get that?" Lucky stares at her in shock. He didn’t remember the gown.

"Wedding gift from my beloved sister," She turns around, modeling the slightly revealing gown. "You like it?"

"I love it."

Elizabeth walks to him, her smile growing more seductive. "I thought since new york is postponed, I’ll arrange a honeymoon somewhere closer to home. I was going to use the boxcar, but I decided my studio was a little more private."

"I agree," Lucky nods, trying to get words together in his head. Elizabeth in that nightgown was rendering him speechless. "You really know how to drive a man crazy don’t you?"

Elizabeth giggled, wrapping a arm around his neck. She slightly nibbles on his ear. "Only my husband. We better hurry before he gets back."

"You’re insane," Lucky smiles, pulling her closer into a passionate kiss. They don’t stop. Right away they put to use the makeshift bed that Elizabeth had set up and forgot about the problems of the outside world for the rest of the night.
