Chapter Fourteen
It’s late afternoon when the McCoy’s arrive at Wyndemere. After
two hours of questioning Amy Vining at GH, they finally discovered that the
Spencers have all gathered at the castle in middle of the Port Charles River.
It didn’t take much to guess that was where Lucky had taken his sister to hide
out. Everyone is in the foyer when Mrs. Lansburry announces the McCoy’s
arrival.
"Send them in," Stefan stands in front of the room, Luke
and Laura standing in front of the kids.
"So this is where our son’s been staying? Pretty extravagant
if you ask me," Paula McCoy glances around.
"Well it’s about time you two showed up!" Luke crosses
his arms. "We were about to think we were rid of you at last!"
"We’re here for our kids," Paula announced and looks
over at Lucky who was tightly holding little Laura’s hand. She clung to her
brother, fear in her eyes.
"Lucky you said I don’t have to go with them," the
little girl whimpers.
"You don’t Laura. Don’t worry," Lucky reassures her and
redirects his attention to the McCoy’s. "You’re not welcomed here. Go
away."
"Not without what’s ours."
"You have nothing here," Nikolas stands in front of
Lucky and little Laura. "You are trespassing. Go now before I call the
police."
"Go ahead. We’ll charge you all with kidnapping."
Alexis comes strutting in, looking as preoccupied as ever as she
reaches into her briefcase. "Congratulations Stefan. The judge has awarded
custody of little Laura over to you. And here’s the junction stating the
McCoy’s unfit parents and that they are not allowed near Laura without proper
supervision." Alexis smiles, oblivious to the fact that the McCoys are
standing right behind her.
"What is this!" Calvin McCoy snatches the paper away
from Alexis and looks them over. "This is wrong! This says that Mr.
Cassadine has custody of my daughter! When hell freezes over he does!"
"Well the devil must be shoveling snow right about now,"
Lucky smirks, crossing his arms.
"Why you little punk, you had this done didn’t you?! You
think you’re so smart don’t you? Well let’s show your friends here just how
smart you are now!" Calvin opens up his coat and takes out the horsewhip
that he had beaten Lucky with two nights before. Calvin smiles as he sees the
horror shining in Lucky’s eyes. "Not so smart now are ya Lucas?"
"Calvin, why don’t you have Lucas show off some of your
handiwork. I’m sure the lashes are still there," Paula grins evilly.
"you two are some mean folk," Earl shakes his head in
disapproval, already knowing what they had done. He just knew that it was too
good to be true that Lucky got away from that place unscathed.
"Lashes?" Elizabeth asked. She didn’t remember any
lashes, but then again, she had never seen Lucky without a shirt since he’s
come back.
"Go on Lucas. Show your little girlfriend here your battle
scars," Calvin grins, walking towards Lucky. "Or do you want fresh
ones?" Calvin lifts the whip, ready to strike Lucky when there’s a loud
click behind him. He turns around to see Nikolas Cassadine aiming a gun at him.
"It my brother with that thing again and I’ll shoot you dead
without a second thought," Nikolas coldly replies.
"Nikolas put that thing away!" Stefan demands.
Nikolas ignores him. He just aims the gun.
Calvin laughs. "You don’t have the guts kid."
"Of course I do. I’m a Cassadine. Sociopaths run in the
family. Luke here can vouch for that."
"I wouldn’t push the kid," Luke suppresses a grin, not wanting to
admit that he was proud of Laura’s firstborn for protecting his brother.
"Now step away from my brother and get out of my house before
I do shoot you," Nikolas growled.
"Calvin let’s go. This place gives me the creeps anyway.
We’ll just get ourselves a good lawyer and get our daughter back that
way," Paula pulls on her husband’s arm.
"How about Lucas?"
"You don’t have a say in where I live anymore Paula. Gee you
would think one would remember the day she gave birth for the first time.
Eighteen years ago today," Lucky replied. "That’s right. As of today
I’m legal. I can stay and do whatever I want and there's nothing you can do
about it."
"Fine then. But Laura is still ours and we’re going to fight
this. Come Calvin. We have to find a Lawyer," Paula pulls her husband out
of the door.
Little Laura begins to cry and clings to her brother as he picks
her up and hugs her. "I don’t want to go back with them Lucky! Please
don’t make me!"
"Shhh Laura. You won’t be going back with them. Stefan here
is your guardian and he’s going to be looking after you for now on, along with
me and Nikolas, Beth, and Liz. We’re not going to let those people anywhere
near you again."
"And count us in too princess," Luke winks at the little
girl. "You have yourself quite an army here."
"Well we better be on our way," adult Laura smiles.
"We left Lulu with Bobbie and she’s probably worried where mommy and daddy
are. Lucky, you will be by tomorrow to visit her? She’s missing her big
brother."
"Of course we’ll be over. Tell Lulu to save some of those
jellybeans for me okay?"
"Sure thing Cowboy. Look out for my kid Stefan," Luke
glares at Stefan before following Laura out of the room.
Later that night, Lucky and Elizabeth are in their room alone.
Lucky sets on the bed and again winces. He still has to put antiseptic on his
back, but he keeps forgetting to ask Nikolas.
"Is this what you need?" Elizabeth appears in the
bedroom door, holding a bottle of antiseptic in her hand, her eyes shining with
concern. "Lucky why didn’t you say anything yesterday? It’s not good
letting them go unattended too."
"I didn’t want to worry you," Lucky sighed.
"It’s my privilege to worry about you. No more secrets ok?
Next time something is wrong tell me."
"I promise," Lucky sighed as she raises his shirt to
apply the antiseptic.
"I can kill them for doing this to you Lucky," Elizabeth
grumbled, her voice full of unshed tears. How can anyone hurt him like this?
Why? What was the reason? "Why did they do this?"
"Because I stopped them from hurting Laura. They were going
to do the same thing to her but I wouldn’t let them."
"So you took her place," Elizabeth shakes her head.
"She’s just a little girl Lucky. Why do they hate her so much that they
want to hurt her? When I think of something like this happening to our
baby…"
Lucky turns around and takes her hand. He stares intently into her
eyes. "Nothing like this will ever happen to our baby Elizabeth. I
promise. Our child will never know anything like this because we won’t let this
happen. We’ll love and protect this child and make sure that it never knows the
violence that Laura knew growing up. She will know that she’s loved."
"It can be a he you know," Elizabeth laughed.
"I know. But I like to think that the baby’s going to be a
beautiful little girl. Just like her mother."
"No. This baby is a boy and he’s going to be just as
handsome, loving and brave like his father," Elizabeth gently kisses Lucky
who kisses her back twice as passionately. The kiss never stops. For the second
time in their relationship, they make love and fall into a peaceful sleep
tucked in each other’s arms, safe in their love for one another.
