EPILOGUE

Ocotober 15, 1913

Dearest Leah,

I know it’s been a long time since I last departed Chippewa Falls on my search for Rose. But so many things have gone on in the past couple of months. First of all I found Rose some six months ago here in Santa Monica. She was working as a waitress. I proposed to her immediately and of course she said yes. We were going to have a nice sized wedding, but decided it’d be best to just elope and get it over with. So two days after my arrival in Santa Monica, we wed. Next to finding out Rose was alive and that I was a father, it was the happiest moment of my life. Jake and Rose and I are now a happy family and soon we’ll have another addition. If it’s a girl we’re planning to name her after the woman responsible for bringing us back together. Leah Molly Dawson. Rose thinks it’s a lovely name and a suitable way to thank you for all you’ve done for us. If it wasn’t for you Leah, we wouldn’t be together now. You are a brave wonderful woman and a great friend. Thank you so much. You may notice with this letter are two pictures. One of Rose and I in on a horse in the surf, standing in front of the pier and another one of all three of us. Really four since Rose is really showing with our second child. Well I’ll leave off here. I wish you the best Leah.

Love your best friend,

Jack Dawson and family
